Hi everyone, I wondering if any one had any advice on decided which uni? I'm really excited but I never thought I'd have the option, I was just hoping for one offer! The options are Edinburgh, rvc, and Bristol. Please share your opinions on which one you think would be best and why, it would really helpful!

I just replied to the rejection email from Caroline Gilroy or whatever her name was and they take a few days to get back to you but they do give you feedback  x

edinburgh! i had to choose between these three as well. I didn't choose bristol because it isn't as prestigious compared to edinburgh and rvc. You will only be able to practice in only a few countries upon graduation(this was important to me as I'm an international student). Between rvc and edinburgh, they are both well known and prestigious. I chose Edinburgh instead because I really don't want to spend my whole uni life with vets and vet nurses only. Edinburgh itself is a very prestigious uni, and you get to have the real experience of uni life. With all that being said, it's really up to you in the end  oh and I also found the people who interviewed me from rvc to be very very rude, and the people from Ed to be uber friendly!

There is no such thing as 'best'. There is only which Uni you will feel most comfortable at. And only you can judge that. If you think about it, any opinions anyone gives here will be a) their opinions, and b) based purely on their experience at their interview (if that).

All the Vet Schools are accredited equally by AVMA. Having a degree from one Uni over another will not matter to potential employers at all - its what you have done while you were there, and how you write a job application/perform at interview, they will be judging, NOT the University badge on your degree certificate.

You need to think back to each interview/tour. What were your feelings, where did you feel most at home? Also, think carefully about the cost of living in London for 5 years, and being at a very specialised college. You are likely to get a better 'student experience' where you are part of a 'whole Uni'. At Bristol, the first few years of your degree will be spent firmly on campus in central Bristol. This means freshers week, friendships and a sense of belonging will be easier/quicker/more inclusive.

What you mean by 'prestigious'?
Got my final rejection last night, and as I'm a re app, I won't be applying again. I wish everyone the best of luck for the future, I know you'll all make great vets!! x

Dont give up completely. Think about other ways you can work with animals - wild-life conservation, animal behaviour/welfare, zoology etc etc. Vet Med gets alot of attention because it sounds 'glamorous' and 'professional' but the burn-out rate is as high as Medicine. It isnt for everyone and there many other ways of contributing to this area than as just 'a Vet'.

Nah, I've looked t my options and post grad isn't one of them, plus, I can't bring myself to do anything animal related apart from veterinary. That was my goal, my dream, and I worked hard but unfortunately it just wasn't meant to be :frown:

We're in the same boat then! I'm international as well. I'm torn as I'm not sure about getting a normal uni experience at rvc. However I think they're the only one with AVBC accreditation and their facilities are awesome. On the other hand Edinburgh might give more of a normal uni experience and still has AVMA and is known for being good with exotics, research and one-health. Aaah idk which one to choose.

Don't give up so soon! There are lots other ways into Veterinary medicine- and I'm sure you'd make an amazing vet too if you were still up for it! I know it's probably hard and upsetting getting the rejections twice, but don't lose hope, because if it's really what you want to do, you will find a way I'm sure! Best of luck with everything in the future!!!:smile::smile::smile:
