I would recommend the same two TMG, al wajeez fi fiqh al sunnah wa kitaab al azeez, mulakhas al fiqhi and i also throw in Umdatul Fiqh, all three books are of the beginning level with mulakhas al fiqhi (the one by Sh. Saleh al-Fawzan) possibly being the most complicated (and comprehensive) of the three. All three are available as PDF's online.

For those of you who don't know, a sister passed away yesterday from Kingston university just months from graduation after a car accident by a reckless speeding driver. So again don't think you're worse off or could've been better off if you went against your natural instinct and istikhara because that's not true.

Yeah thanks my iman has become stronger here. But just wondering when u perform istikhara, how do you know sometimes I feel what's right straight after the prayer. Others a bit later on. Or does it depend on the circumstances.

As I understand it its about feeling content about a decision once you've asked consulted people you trust and asked Allah for guidance on the matter. It's not necessarily some sort of vision but it's about relying on Allah's guidance and not just following your whims. I've heard that sh. Abdul Nasir Jangda's talk on istikhara is pretty good at explaining it but I haven't got round to listening to it myself. (it is on YouTube) but yh my point is have a listen to that or look for answers from other knowledgeable people for more info.

The Sinking Boat

"Imagine there are people travelling in a boat. One of the passengers starts to drill a hole right where he is sitting. What will be the reaction?

Everyone will start making noise and stop him from carrying on what he's doing. Suppose he says 'mind your own business, I am drilling a hole in my own place and who are you to stop me?'

Obviously, everyone will say, 'that is true. But when the water starts coming into the boat, it will not only drown you, but we all are going to sink.''

Similarly, when you see sins committed in your community, society or nation, and if you turn a blind eye, you all will be answerable to God Almighty, liable for His punishment and for spreading the corruption.

When you see something wrong happening in your community or the society, it is obligatory to confront it and stop it. If you have power to speak out against the evil committed, it will be the jihad with your tongue. If you have no power to speak but you can write against it, it will be jihad with your pen. If you can neither speak nor write, but have money to pay someone who can do the job for you, it will be jihad with your wealth. If you cannot do anything then have hatred towards such acts and this is the weakest form of jihad.
