So in your personal opinion ... would you pick a traditional/specialised course like Accounting at a uni like GCU or UWS going into year 3 ... or would you take any business course that interested you at SBS because it is so good there, going into year 1?
I know there are many variables from person to person but I got this counter offer from Strathclyde which is really my dream uni to go to but unsure on going for a new (untested) course, just curious as to what someone else would do in my shoes lol

Also, the Hunter Centre (department for BE) has a hub which is to help turn ideas into businesses, they provide help and you still remain in 100% ownership or with a group etc.
I'm doing MDP, I've not heard of LDP if I'm honest! If your first main subject is a business one then you have to do MDP. I'm sure you've researched about it & yes employers love it but really, you have to do a little work for it every/other week depending what year you're in and sometimes it's useful but most of the time it doesn't teach you much. Don't let that put you off though because you're always in groups and 9/10 times you get on and have a bit of banter even during class which can make your day!
Plus, it's a huge win with employers.

Strathclyde is amazing for specialisation whereas Accounts may leave you a bit stranded (whether in SBS or elsewhere as the pathway is seperate to BA Business).
I also have to say that Strath definately are prefered by certain employers with companies like Proctor and Gamble (amongst many) coming specifically to seek out Strath grads. A 2:1 at Strath will put you above a 1st from most other unis (not Glasgow).
And yeah, Enterprise at Strath teaches you a lot about refining business ideas or even creativity in general - and if that fits your personality I would say go for that. No where else offers anything like it and it's useful whether you want to set up your own company or not.

I stayed in chancellors this year and its been fab, friends stay in forbes and its just as good! I’d say all the halls are great because being in the student village is so handy and lively!

An absolute joke this uni. The relevance of the materials offered is as low as newspaper articles from the Scottish Sun and the Daily Record (these are Scottish tabloids by the way). As a matter of fact these are common references on the "lectures". A lecture is a powerpoint slideshow where the lecturer reads through about nothing or about potatoes and facebook and celebrities. All what 90% of the students want when they attend a lecture is to sign the register as attendance is basically the only criteria for you to get your degree.

This uni is a perfect business model on how to make money from fees from idiots like me and thousands that fall for the fantastic corporate marketing policies they have. You WILL feel deceived if you come here. All these people want is to make money from thousands of undergraduate (remember £1820 per head per year given to this place by SAAS not to mention the RUK and the International students who pay 5 times more - from their own pockets) and postgradute students.

I just wanted to ask one question - how much free time would you say you need to be properly involved in societies? I'm going to be a fresher in September and I'll be living off-campus, so my means of getting to know new people will be somewhat limited. I'll also be working part-time, so I'm kind of concerned about time management - I'd love to join a society, but I also don't want my schoolwork to suffer.

Hiya, I was in exactly the same boat. I lived in South side and was working in a call centre Mon Tue nights Sunday all day. I think it really depends on what you're studying. I studied law so I was very rarely in scheduled classes. So I was able to join Archery. I was on the committee for three years, I was heavily involved in the union; policy council, communication committee, strathguides, welcome team etc. I still ended up with a 2:1 at the end of my degree so it's definitely do-able. Also I think you'll find there is quite a few people who live at home who go to strath. At least that's what I found. Anything else let me know

I have changed to BA (Honours) in Economics and Management Science because the languages have got a bit confusing, but if you have any questions about course outline in general still, just let me know and I happily answer

Hiya, unfortunately I've never heard of Clyde house. Sorry.
In general the halls are all on campus and really close to the library and lecture theatre. Birkbeck is slightly cheaper and better known as more of a party hall. Murray hall is the only one which isn't apartments and is long corridors with common rooms and a big shared kitchen. The posher ones are Chancellors and another which name I forgotten and they are all ensuites. The halls are near a large Aldi and a sainsbury's in the opposite direction. They all have new washing machines which were put in this year I think. Also todds bar which is right in the middle of the "student village" is really cheap and has a good atmosphere. Then you have the student union on campus and whole load of bars and clubs in glasgow.

Hello I am a peruvian student and I hold an offer for strathclyde master in finance program, I hold other offers too like bristol, leeds, leicsester, queens university belfast and surrey. I would like to study in a very good university with a high reputation in finance I found strathclyde in the financial times worl ranking for master in finance programs but besides of that raking I didn not find much information of this university and I have read sone bad comments about its reputation sayin that is bad and last choise university. Which is the real reputation? How are the job prospects for postgrad graduates? Which university will you recoment for finance?
