Misuse of the religious society threads

Yes, I had a brief discussion about all this when the no debating thread was made about things you like about the Qu'ran. We got that taken down but the society threads were stubbornly protected.


Perhaps a lone voice wasn't enough? If you could show there's enough uproar about the religious societies being in the Religion forum by, say, doing a petition, then you might be more successful? :dontknow:

I appreciate the idea, but when it is plain that "no debate" threads by definition do not fit into a "debate" forum, and there is no reason that they can't be elsewhere, with links available from here, I don't see the need for a consensus in the community to make this change. It it obvious to all but biased observers that they should be elsewhere if debate is prohibited.

That's fair enough, I guess. Though if you're not willing to be more proactive about it, then perhaps you shouldn't be surprised if the CT don't do anything about it? :dontknow: Just my tuppence anyway :h:

Since they already know the threads are inappropriate here, by leaving them as be with objections having been made enough, they are demonstrating a lack of caring about it / a lack of competency. That means I'm not confident that they'll care/be competent when such a petition is done.

Just an update on this. We have been working on a plan to fix this issue which will hopefully be announced and actioned soon :h:

Just an update that the religious society threads are not designed for debating but for members of religious communities to come together and socialise.

As a result of these threads becoming derailed and complaints being submitted, any member who posts in these threads to troll or with negative intentions will be issued an immediate ban from the Faith and Spirituality forum.

If you spot someone trolling in these threads please use the report function to direct them to the CT.

You are essentially equating debate with trolling or/and negative intention. Don't say you don't, you just did it right there in your comment. You could have said "anyone who posts in these threads to debate will be issued an immediate ban from the Faith and Spirituality forum."

Do you admit that you did it?
