how could I contribute to a discussion ? the difference between a discussion and a debate is wafer-thin, and highly subjective

at present, debates are not allowed. Are "discussions" allowed ? who knows ?

If you spent as much time actually learning about Islam with a little sincerity rather than trying to debate it, you might actually get somewhere - a discussion is thus something where you learn something new whereas a debate draws upon what you already know :hand:

Three directions to invest:

Today is the day for action engage in worship, Da’wah, learning and serving others.
Turn your time into gold and earn mountains of rewards in a few minutes.
The past clean it up by making Taubah!
The future invest by having good intentions.
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ "‏ الإِيمَانُ قَيَّدَ الْفَتْكَ لاَ يَفْتِكُ مُؤْمِنٌ ‏"‏

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: Al-Imaan (Faith) prevented assassination. A believer should not assassinate.

Sunan Abi Dawud 2769, Musnad Imam Ahmad 3/19 & 3/21. Sheikh Al-Albani said Saheeh in Saheeh Al-Jami' #2802, Ibn Hajr said Hasan in Takhreej Al-Mishkaat As-Saabeeh. Ahmad Shakir said Isnaad Saheeh in his checking of Musnad Ahmad. Al-Buseeri said "Men are Thiqah (trustworthy)". As-Suyuti said Hasan in Al-Jami' As-Sagheer 3098.

Do you think it's possible to be sincere when there is such a big punishment for those that aren't? If so, would it be out of fear?

Perhaps it depends on the individual. In essence, I think that both love for Allah ta'ala and fear of erring are significantly conducive to sincerity. After all, taqwa and ihsaan are interrelated. This, btw:
