Agreed! I'm so excited.

It's going to be so great just living on my own, I just hope I get a good set of flatmates I really don't know how to describe myself well on the form they give us for accommodation. I'm thinking of just writing "sociable, going out 2/3 times per week, neat and tidy kitchen, hardworking near exams/coursework deadlines" but then should I mention music tastes and that?? Ah..this is going to be worse than the UCAS personal statement haha

^ That's pretty much the ideal scenario! I'm not opposed to going out, but I do want a decent degree, too. Maybe the forms will be specific? I hope it's not a personal statement type of thing.
Which accommodation are you planning on putting down as your first choice? I'm thinking Rootes/ Heronbank(:

I'm glad others get how stressing the idea of describing yourself is. I'm worried it's going to start sounding like a singles ad "Brunette seeks clean housemates, who are sociable yet know when to shut up etc..."

I know I wasn't the person your originally asked, but I'm think Rootes or JM/AV for first choice - I'm just not too bothered about ensuite. Why are you thinking Rootes? If you don't mind me asking?

hopefully the forms are just going to be straight to the point, I couldn't bare to write another personal statement I'd end up sounding so boring haha.
I think I'm going to go with Sherbourne or AV  The plan for me is to live somewhere somewhat quiet and socialise in rootes for predrinks, well that's what one of the open day guides recommended although she stayed in bluebell

Good plan! At least, if you sound boring on the personal statement, none of your new flatmates (or corridormates?) have to know. I've asked around about it and just keep getting told that it's really simple and all we'll have to do is talk about what times we go to bed, how often we like to go out, whether we're loud or quiet etc. My only problem is that I don't really know.

My friends are a bit naff at the moment, so we barely see each other out of school, my sleep schedule's erratic - it's either 9pm or 3am, I don't seem to have an in between! - and when I know someone or feel comfortable, you can barely get me to shut up! I'm dreading this stupid personal statement because if you get it wrong you'll be placed with people you have nothing in common with! :frown:

Sherbourne and AV are really nice, but, from what everyone's said, they're difficult to get into (I think?) because they're nice en suites and everyone wants one. It's so hard to choose! :unimpressed:

You're so right and sound similar to me. I can go from sleeping when I get home from sixth form at around 5 till about 11 or having a bedtime of around 2/3am. Literally the two extremes! And just like you when I get to know someone and feel comfortable the conversation will just flow.. Everyone at sixth form is telling me not to stress but literally this form could either give us an amazing first year or a somewhat amazing first year... I really want to be in a flat/corridor where it's like your own mini uni family and we go out for Christmas dinners and stuff (maybe planning too far ahead I still haven't tackled the issue of revision yet) Ah yeah AV/JM seems to be so popular. I might just put Sherbourne as first because no one really seems to talk about it and the flats do look pretty nice

Exactly!
Nor am I- the halls have cleaners, and everyone I know that has an ensuite has said that it's not really worth it.
Rootes, because I can't bear the thought of going through uni' not being sociable/ making (as cheesy as it sounds) friends and memories. I don't really care about the room size, or anything like that.

That's what I've been thinking! It's cheaper to just get a non ensuite room, so I'd have more money for going out and socialising etc. it's would also limit the amount of hours I'm going to have to work. So, again, more time to study or socialise, I guess. I really want to make good friends who'll (maybe this sounds dumb or cheesy but I don't care...!) see me through uni and hopefully further, the whole cliched "like a family" atmosphere.
The Rootes corridor set up is another factor too, this way if I mess up the form and get put with people I don't get along with, I'm not completely isolated from everyone else in the block like you could be if there was a flats set up. Besides, like you mentioned, there would be cleaners and an ensuite wouldn't even be a particularly long lasting luxury.

Yes- I'm a tad worried about not getting along with flatmates, but hopefully it should all work out! When I visited Bluebell, the corridors just seemed a bit cut off and isolated. I mean, I'm thinking of putting Heronbank as another choice, but it's a bit out of the way, compared to Rootes being literally a minute from lectures. What accommodation are you thinking of going for?

The extreme sleeping set out is exactly like mine, with it nearly being exams and history/lit' coursework season! Flat dinners and being comfortable with everyone there is the dream(: I'd never really thought about Sherbourne for some reason, but you're right.

Haha, it's nice to see I'm not alone in my bizarre sleep schedule. I'd love it if my flat/corridor were like my home away from home - it sounds a bit cliche though doesn't it? Sherbourne is pretty much the same layout as Bluebell I thought? Just, maybe more per flat? I'm so conflicted about what to choose! Do I go ensuite? Or, should I go shared? I was think Rootes but all these people keep tempting me with ensuites!

I'm really stuck on what accomodation I want! I like going out a few nights per week and couldn't think of anything worse than having roommates who don't want to go out, yet I'm desperate for an ensuite Does anybody have any suggestions? Anybody else feel like they are in this situation?

Define few nights per week

also the government does not pay 300 pounds per week as tuition fees to just socialise

yoy have too many demands
