Synapses

Would anybody be able to explain to me why synapses can only transmit in one direction please?

Vesicles containing neurotransmitter are found in pre synaptic neurone only and receptors for that transmitter are only found on post synaptic neurone hence one way system

Synapses are nerve endings to the neurons. Synapses are transmitting in one direction to 'open' the acethylcholine receptors of another synapses, so the action potential is able to overcome the synaptic cleft and to come through the next synapses. If the synapses would transmit in another directions, the receptors would not be opened...
