What would be mentioned in that? Do you think it could ask about schlieffen plan?

I would say things like pressure from the SPDs for reform and the ruling élite's desires to go to war as a means of distracting people from demanding constitutional change.

It could definitely ask about the Schlieffen plan as AJP Taylor believes it was a war by timetable.

Yes, could weltpolitik and flotenpolitik be mentioned in that, including tirpitz naval plans to direct attention away from socialist threat at home? Yes I agree, part a question around schlieffen plan hasn't been asked for a while
Hello, what do you guys predict will come up for part (a) this year ( I was thinking definitely 1900-1914). Also what do you all think, controversy b will be based upon? Cheers

Ah I don't think Schlieffen plan can come up in part A, only part B. Because some colleges may not teach the WW1 controversy. Similarly they can't ask a part a question on the content in the Nazi controversy.

But for part B, yes, the idea of building the navy to detract attention from much needed political reform is important.

Personally, my predictions are:

Part A:
Kaiserreich transformation of economy and politics 1900-14

Nazi consolidation of power in 1933

Part B:
Pressures domestically before WW1 leading to the outbreak of war as a means of placating the masses

(I don't do the Nazi controversy so I've no clue for that haha)

That's okay!

My college only teaches the WW1 controversy. But risky, but I guess it doesn't change dramatically year on year.

Yes sorry I meant to say schlieffen plan for part B!! For part A, I do think and hope something around Hitler coming into power in 1933 is asked

That's true!! I think I find the questions on 'Hitler being a non- interventionist' slightly better to understand!

Ah no worries!

Well they've asked about Hitler coming to power, but I don't think they've asked about his consolidation of power.

Aha, is that the Nazi controversy question?

What type of questions regarding Germany 1900-1914 could be asked? Does anyone else think this period is going to be asked in part a?

It's rather likely I think.

Questions could range from:
Was the second reich an entrenched autocracy?
Where did real power lie?
Did Germany undergo political/social/economic transformation?
Was there a shift in the balance of power from 1908?

I think the best would be the third bullet point? What would you mention in the first one?

That's okay  hope it helps! How do you tend to revise for this exam?

I've done like an essay from each topic, and trying to remember the essays with the main points, what about you?
