John Lester & Eddie Colman Court - Salford

Anyone living in either John Lester or Eddie Colman for the upcoming year 2015/2016?

I have my flat sorted and wondered if anyone else had

I'll be doing BSc Children & Young People's Nursing - any other nurses in these blocks?
I'm staying for my second year there and my friend does nursing. There are plenty of nurses around ec and JL.

Oh fab ☺️ Thanks! What are the flats like? Do you find them acceptable for the money they cost? I'll be in a 4 bed so it's not that expensive, I'm just wondering! x

I think they're the most cost effective out of the accommodations. The cheapest accommodation is £69 a week I believe and is castle Irwell (though that's being knocked down I believe) and those were 12 people houses with tiny rooms and a tiny kitchen. Then there was flats at castle Irwell too 6 people and £75 p/w, small rooms and not too nice. Then the next up was EC and JL in price and they're so much nicer. So I'd say definitely worth what they cost in comparison to what the other options were last year. I think now castle Irwell is gone they're the cheapest.

I'm in a 4 bed too  I don't think the rest are worth the extra but to some people the extra room and less people is worth it.

Some people I know absolutely hate the flats, but I don't mind them. They feel like student flats, the doors are heavy fire doors with locks and the 4 people flats just have a kitchen, no dining room or lounge area but for what you're paying that's not surprising. Kitchens are decent sized and the rooms are all pretty decent sized. If you get a two person flat the rooms are massive! But that's reflected in the price and the kitchens are smaller.

The staff are really friendly and helpful from my experiences, the lounges downstairs are nice too and great to socialise in.

A lot of people complain about student accommodation, this one included. But I'd say just go in expecting student accommodation and it will be fine. Some people expect too much for what they're paying tbh.

Hi, could you help me out please. I tried applying for John Lester or Eddie Colman for 2015/2016, but it won't let me carry on with my application until i have requested room mates, do you have to request room mates to carry on? plus can you not have shared rooms because its not giving me that option, thanks.

I requested roommates but I'm not sure it's compulsory! I don't think it's possible to share a bedroom with someone else - they're all just single rooms x

I should have worded that better, I meant share halls with the same and opposite sex x

Sorry! There's an option at the beginning of the application to select 'mixed' when choosing who you're wanting to live with  x

Worst place to live EVER. They try to squeeze every penny they can out of you.
Is JL/EC sociable, like do flats mingle well with others?
im going back to EC for my final year
JL08-3! But I guess finding anyone from the 8th floor in JL would be cool?((:
I am a March 15 MH student and I am moving to a nurse flat in Sept 14-7 in EC I think. They aren't money grabbing ignore the miserable person they are reasonable and it's cheap for what we get. There is socialising if you get out and make an effort!
