Looking through the books yourself would hone your skimming skills. Finding them on websites is half the fun gone.

I don't know how old you are but many young students do not find finding quotes fun it's a task that needs to be done to be successful and these site allow a student to find the quotes they need on the page they need it's much more efficient so they can practice more exam technique as this is what trips students up the most.

I'm fifteen. I think that, if you're studying English, you should be learning how to effectively read, analyse, interpret and skim through a text. Sure, websites will help you pass your exams, but if you want to fully appreciate the subject and get the most out of it, I feel you shouldn't use shortcuts in your studies. Doing it the right way will help you later on, I'd imagine.

I've done the exam last year for English lit used the sites and got an A* I got an A* in triple chemistry a year early by using sites like s-cool to help me the Internet is there to help yes I agree that one should read the books but using sites to find and explain the quotes will ensure that your answers come out correct

Yes if I didn't like the subject I wouldnt have done well in it and we should go back to helping this person

he should read the books to get an overview because points are gained for linking the quotes to the whole text but he should picking single quotes using the sites as it will be faster and allow them to revise technique more

Laziness.

NO it's efficiency. As long as one knows the content of what they are learning going over small notes is the most efficient way to revise because the brain will not double store information it already knows so by using the quick notes one can revise more effectively

It's lazy because a person has created a piece of art, and people would rather let someone else appreciate it for them than take a short amount of time to do it themselves. You speak of efficiency, but literature isn't supposed to be efficient. It's supposed to be beautiful and exciting. Sure, efficiency might work well for your exams, but if you ever want to really appreciate the subject, you need to forget about the exam and see the novella for what it is; a piece of art - not a collection of quotes for you to write in an exam paper.
