Badges are live.... beta rollout!

While I may be wrong, I suspect that it would take TSR staff a fair amount longer to arrange all of the necessary changes. Consider how long it's been without any new badges having been introduced, though, when we know from earlier posts that they're due to be worked on at some point.

The thing is, I can't see there being more than a small handful of members (i.e., less than ten) who might conceivably earn this - and many more might be frustrated from having empty spots on their profile.

How about have it done on a case-by-case basis? I.e. it doesn't appear unless you have it - that would make things easier by not having to modify the badge template, and only having to take a couple of minutes each time someone does get it.

With the offer of a badge with the other reward of knowing you're working to improve the site, I think more people will report exploits than you think. Take reddit, for example - quite a lot of people have earned the equivalent trophy since it was introduced.

If people want I can create the graphic and write the introduction to give an idea of what I'm suggesting.

It's not that I'd particularly object if the badge were to be added, I just don't see it as being particularly likely based on what I've seen of previous dev work. I'm sure that the community team will be able to offer their thoughts directly when they see this - as can other members, of course.
Will there be any new badges added at all?
Yes- there will be new badges coming out so keep your eyes peeled!
Maybe giving subject specific badges? It could be too much, but it could work by people giving you reputation when they find what you've said about a subject particularly helpful - the chatterbox badge could then be given if you've participated in a range of discussions It would give me more confidence seeing that a revision item has been 'specialist approved' (etc) as well as teacher approved.
Just an idea, not convinced it would work so feel free to ignore

The problem is this hardly ever happens. Sometimes people say thank you but most of the time your answer / advice goes completely unacknowledged.
How about this for people who are banned?

I totally agree, I ceased to post in the study help for this reason.

I know, which is partially why I thought about it in the first place. It would be interesting to see if this had any effect though - would people stop and think about giving another user some form of credit that recognises their good work and the fact they've shared it online or would people just ignore it?
How about a shield/badge for when someone has been really helpful in somebody's thread.
For example, in the study help section, if someone has clearly put a lot of effort into their answer to help the OP out, they get rewarded.
And it's the moderator who can give these awards if they stumble upon a really good post.

no wait, that's clever clogs.... Doh!
but something should apply like that similar in other forums, especially if theyve given good advice

Don't hold your breath. Badges are one of a long line of developments that got rushed in and then wasn't followed up. TSR doesn't finish projects.

Thisis sad.

I used to have an account years ago, and I remember having a little tagline that said "Junior member" etc.... where did they go?

And where did the neg button go??
Its been a while since the badges were installed. And what is the sense of it? I stick to it: they are unnecessary.

It seems that they have abandoned the project.

It would have been better it they had done something like on reddit.
I thought the thread title said 'Badgers'
