I do Psychology too, had no idea you did :colondollar: Well, technically I do Neuropsychology but only start properly specialising in my third year so I do the same first and second years as the straight Psychology route to get BPS accreditation. Thinking about changing my route to sport psychology though, I love it!

Yeah same. My most recent lab was about language. :lol: I don't think I did very well in it (my MH was really bad when I was attempting to write it up). Oh well. :dontknow: How're you finding it? What year are you in?

Ahhh, neuropsychology is so interesting! I'm hoping to go into clinical psychology when I finish my degree, so I thought a broader undergraduate degree would be better - that and the universities that offered clinical psychology as a UG course weren't that appealing to me haha. What sort of modules do you get offered in your third year? I'm having a lot of trouble picking mine...lol. oh well. :redface:

I think it's in the rules somewhere that labs have to be really boring :tongue: Although for our last lab we reenacted Ainsworth's strange situation with real babies, it was quite fun! I'm just finishing my first year, I have a love/hate relationship with it really. Sometimes it's the best thing in the world other times I wonder why I'm still here :lol:

Ahh fair enough, I could never do clinical :eek: I think they're being changed around a bit but as far as I know it's clinical neuropsychology, biological treatments in psychiatry, memory disorders and motor disorders then for our other modules we pick from the more general psychology ones. What do you have to pick from?

Wouldn't surprise me. :lol: Yes! See, I love psychology, but the sheer volume of work is so insane I can't cope with it then I have meltdowns. :frown: Definite love/hate relationship. :sadnod:

I love clinical - although I know I need to sort out my own stuff before I help other people. Just...sometimes, I don't know if it's possible. I mean I am trying, but I need support and CMHT aren't doing ANYTHING. :facepalm: Might as well not be under them. :dontknow: Clinical neuropsychology sounds awesome, let me know if you take it!?
Uhhh, off the top of my head we have emotion, cognitive neuropsychology, evolutionary psychology, reading development, and some other stuff, like there's outside modules within the health sciences department we can take that deals with therapy, etc. There's loads though. Just stuck on what to try. :eek2:

Would you guys recommend studying psychology? I have applied for it and do wanna do it, but it is good to hear if the current students would recommend or not.

I can relate to that so much! Doesn't help that I hate social psychology too :tongue:

I think my own psychologist scarred me for life a bit tbh so that's put me off it :mmm: I get what you mean though, definitely makes sense to concentrate on yourself before moving onto other people.
I think we have to take it in order to graduate in neuropsychology actually, it's 2 whole years away though :eek: Oo, a good mix then. I've just finished a module in evolutionary psychology, I think I only liked it because my lecturer was adorable :love:

The majority of the time I enjoy it, yeah. Almost dropped out in January but I think that was to do with my own MH more than anything. It's a good mix of science/essay based for me. Stats is hard but should be ok if you work at it. Personally I hate social/developmental psychology but if you can wade through the stuff you don't like you'll be fine.

I don't even know what that is. Pretty much every lecture started with a 'I know this is 70% bull**** but...' disclaimer though.

Ahh okay, thanks. Don't really enjoy biology that much, but I figure that is only one module so should be okay. I don't really like stats either, but I should be able to do it (hopefully). I actually do like social/developmental psychology (well during A-Levels) not sure about uni standard though.

I personally would! But like I said, the volume of work can get a bit much. But it's definitely worth it. The broad range of things to learn is awesome too, I've found them really enjoyable. Except for the lab reports. :lol: But even statistics has been good! Let me know if you have any specific questions, can PM if you like. :yep:

As Anony#2 said, it's a good mix between essay based stuff and more scientific things.

Ohhh, okay - fair enough! Yeah, there's other ones too, like animal behaviour which I found really bizarre. :lol: I wanted to do intelligence, but we briefly did it in another module last term (Personality and individual differences) and I hated the lecturer. He was awful with helping us prepare for our coursework test (for reference, in his part of the paper I got 10.5/20 and the other lecturers part of the paper I got 17.5/20 - and pretty much everyone was like that!). Should probably pick my modules soon. :pinch:

Haha probably not.
I am stupid.

I'm stressed out to the eyeballs about exams as it is, but then I went and started using a dating site again. Now I have some prospective dates to try and fit in during revision - and I find first dates to actually be really stressful (not something I do a lot!). Way to make life more complex for myself right now.
