What type of things can you expect on an assessment day and how would you make yourself stand out (positively)?
Presentation, psychometric testing, case study, group discussion, further interviews.
Be yourself, don't be cocky, be inviting and collegiate, involve others in discussions, be focused, don't be rude/arrogant, be sociable, smile and have fun

A thousand times this.
No need to try and 'be the best' in group tasks, you have interviews and other solo exercises to put across your knowledge and understanding. Just work together and enjoy it.
Anyone keen on doing a summer stint in the summer of first year, look at the asset management firms. I did this summer at Schroders, and Aberdeen Asset Management also have places for first years.
Barclays do summer for the top performing freshers on their SW and it's pretty much their standard 9 week internship, so consider the impact that would have on your bank balance.. Same with RBCCM.
Aside from those, look at mid-tier boutiques who are always on the look out for an extra pair of hands.
Alternatively, enjoy the summer, might be your last for a long time.
What division did you work in at Schroders? and also where are you working this summer?
Finally the whole craziness of applications and interviews and converting is over! It was great to meet some of you during the springs and see you on the summer thread

What course at Russell groups should I do to get into investment banking?
What university specifically? In all fairness Russel Group doesn't mean **** in the world of Investment Banking. You're either at a target/semi-target or a non-target.
If you're at a Target, do whatever the hell you want, if you're at a semi-target do Economics/Finance/Maths/Business/Engineering.. if you're at a non-target lol.. do Economics & network your ass off.
