Open call to anyone with advice on life & course at both the University of Reading and the University of Dundee!I have an unconditional offer to study Art & English Literature at
Reading AND and an unconditional to study on year 1 (General Foundation) at
Duncan Of Jordanstone College Of Art & Design (Dundee).
I've visited both places and liked both, but
loved Dundee. (I'm from London so going to Reading would, however, be 100x more convenient than going to Dundee)
So, anyway, I can't decide whether Dundee would be a good choice- There's nothing wrong with Reading at all, it would be a pretty safe option but I loved Dundee and the course etc and seems like a more exciting opportunity.. I'm particularly interested in getting advice on these things too:
1. I would be spending four years at Dundee and three at Reading. Does course length matter? I'm worried I'll be feeling a little sick of uni and in a lot of debt after three years....
2. I'll be 19 at the start of the course- sounds silly but will I be particularly old at Dundee compared with most (with applicants starting at age 17?)? Again I'm also not sure how I feel about graduating age 23!
3. Has anyone else on here moved from the south to Dundee or elsewhere far far away? (ok it's not the other side of the world but I can not afford planes and trains so ten-hour busses will be a reality) Interested to know other people's experience!
4. Any current students at DJCAD have any info on whether it's going to be difficult to get into my preferred degree choice after year one? I don't want to be in a situation where I spend first year at Dundee and apply to move onto their Fine Art course and they're like "sorry full up! but there ARE places on Time-based Media instead?" or something to that effect. There's a lot of comfort in going to Reading and being in the first year of my preferred degree and NOT having to worry about whether I'll get into a course year 2...
ANY advice or comments or thoughts would be so appreciated- even if they are not related to anything I've mentioned!!. Sorry this is long and rambling- Essentially my first choice WOULD be Dundee but these are the issues making me nervous about firming them:
Course length,
my age, and c
ompeting to get into my choice at year 2. HELP!!
Thanks so much- again, anything from anyone will be useful!!!
