depends on the bb. cs is a beast so its not too difficult decision here, but vs other bbs its a much closer decision imo

Why do you think CS is a beast? I thought overall it was somewhat weaker than most other BBs across the board, but would gladly be proven wrong :tongue:

Haha, yes. Perhaps I've been too focused on trading since CS aren't doing well in fixed income. I know for Equity Research they're probably top 3.

Why wouldn't he be? CS over UBS and Barclays, but that's pretty much it (IBD). Unless we're strictly talking about Lev Fin here it's not too easy of a choice.

Just to point out, overall rankings are pretty pointless, what really matters is desk/sector performance. In trading, GS/JP are pretty much the main two players, but you'd be much better off on a 'good' desk elsewhere than on poor performing (or just not so good in general) desk at GS/JP. Likewise, in something like equity research (where GS are considered quite weak among other BBs) you'd be better off at GS on a sector with II/Extel top ranked analysts than at a 'top player' in Equity Research, on some random desk.

I know, sorry. I wasn't trying to answer your question (I know nothing about DCM really) I was just trying to give an overview of how 'overall prestige/ranking' of a whole IB division is somewhat irrelevant (using the two divisions I know something about).
