For childhood i did 3 for its disappeared (Palmer, Gittens & Phillips) and 3 against the claim that its disappeared (Shorter Jenks, Aries) but they werent direct criticisms in the sense that they criticised what they said but didnt address it idk how to explain ssdahgshdgsdhkgkhjgs

But lovely paper and TSR predictions on point lool

I talked about the dissapearance of childhood (Postman), then contrasted it with childhood being in the realm of education and parenthood eg. Child centredness (pilcher). I went on to talk about cross cultural differences in childhood and the impact of a toxic childhood as to whether you could really generalise the dissapearance of childhood to all societies. I'm pretty sure we weren't supposed to go too much detail into the March of Progress/Conflict view.

I didn't have enough time to do cultural differences I was so annoyed! I think it went ok though! What did you put for the short questions?

That's alright! I'm sure examiners know the pressure that students are under! I think the main thing you did well to avoid was getting bogged down in the MOP/Conflict debate, which was what the question was NOT asking for!

For household: A group of people living in the same accommodation; living together

Cohabitation: (1) Declining stigma (2) Secularisation

Marxists: (1) Inheritance of property (2) Unit of consumption (3) Unit of production

How about yourself?

For childhood I wrote about toxic childhood, cultural differences etc, and mentioned names like Postman, Palmer, Wagg, Holmes and Firth. And for the social policies question I kinda waffled about divorce law reform act, civil partnerships, welfare state and threw in a few names like Murray and Parsons hmm. Not confident with the shorter questions though, especially the marxist/capitalist one? I talked about studies like Laing (family causing depression) and zaresky? Didn't know what else to say apart from the studies, what did everyone else write?
Household: don't remember what I wrote exactly but I definitely mentioned a mother and father, not sure if right...

Cohabitation: decline in stigma and secularisation

Marxists: reserve army of cheap labour, reproduction of next generation's workers and I don't remember my last point >_<....

Hopefully my mark shouldn't be too bad then!
Household I said a group of people who live under one dwelling and share things such as bills and they don't have to be related
Exact same for cohabitation
Marxists I said reproduction and maintenance of labour force, socialisation into capitalist ideology and unit of consumption; I almost wrote inheritance of property instead of the first point but I didn't 😩 I hope that's ok 😥

I'm kind of nervous about my Marxist one now :O.

The question was asking for the functions of the family from a Marxist view right?

The points you gave pertain to Marxist Feminism, but I would assume both are correct seeing as they both involve Marxism... I think lol :s-smilie:

No your marxist view was perfect! Engels - inheritance of property etc. etc., you needn't worry. I'm annoyed that I had no sociologists to back mine up, or if mine were even valid points :cry2:

Oh I mentioned about how families provided emotional support for the workers to go back to work in an oppressive society.

OH MY DON'T SCARE ME!!! I'm definitely wrong then lmao (I've just noticed that it's all Marxist Feminist... does that even count? :erm:)

Even if you get a B, ace the Education and Research Methods and you'll be back on that A in no time!

Damn, I was lucky as hell. I forgot completely about social policies until I checked this site in the morning, revised it and did pretty well in the exam. Wrote about 5 sides, just wrote everything I knew about both the topics in the essays that were at least somewhat relevant.

5 SIDES?! :lolwut:

For the sociol policy question i wrote about the polcies that the conservatives introduced or supported coz they like the nuclear family. Then new labour policies and i threw in random stuff about theorwtical perspective and their view on social policies
For the childhood question i only wrote about toxic chilhood, postman, and melanie Philip and i talked a little about marxism and what they said!😩 i didn't write about the march of progress at all but i referred to the item!😁 idk i feel like i failed. The rest of te questions I know i got right but the 24 mark questions i slacked so bad😭

The thing is, item B was really straightforward in the sense that as long as you talked about adults/children being separate and then contrasted this with the boundary being blurred, you essentially referred to the item!

Since the question was specified on one select aspect of childhood, as long as you talked about the correct points, you essentially incorporated 2B!

Yeah, I'm not sure if I was right but I answered the first 24 mark question by just explaining each theories opinions on policy, so, functionalist, new right, feminist and Marxist, I did include examples of policy for each one but I think you were just meant to say policies. All of my friends had just written just about specific policies and their effects on society, will I get any marks?

Hmm yes. I guess if you mentioned something that was in part B in your intro or something really similar to part B in your essay, you should be kinda safe... :borat:

I did the same! What points did you use? I used Functionalism, Marxism, New Right, Feminism and Marxist Feminism.

So I suppose you could say 4 + 1 sub-perspective.
