0.1mm (scale) = 4cm

4cm = 40mm

40/0.1 = 400

Anyone else get this for magnification?

I am freaking out about this paper, b2? More like maths and random isa stuff! What did everyone get on the magnification question? Also 6 marker?

400, you had to convert 4cm to mm = 40mm and 40/0.1 is 400x Magnification.

The 6 mark completely threw me off...I ended uo talking about transect lines, I hope that's at least the direction they were aiming for.
Did anyone do foundation paper, how did you find it?

The length was 4 cm... but the scale was in mm so 4cm on the diagram is 0.1mm, this means 400mm is 0.1mm - you have to convert it to mm first. Then 400 x 0.1 = 40 (the length in mm)

Magnification = measured size/actual size
This is the actual formula.

The measured size was 40mm, the actual size was 0.1mm.

You had to make sure everything had the same units (mm).

So I think it was 40/0.1 = 400x magnification

1 and 2. Only one dominant allele needed to express characteristic. Two recessive needed to express that characteristic. I think?

Yep. You had to have heterozygous F1 (The first breeding) because later breeding resulted in white AND purple flowers.
To have ALL Heterozygous at F1, You had to have PP (For purple) and pp (For white.) The results could only have been either Pp or PP - Resulting in all purple flowers at F1. :smile:
