I thought 1/3 parallel to x axis and most people did as well?

im so annoyed, C1 is supposed to be easy and I made so many mistakes, did anyone get 5^9/2 for the part (iii) indices question?

Pretty sure it was in the x-direction. the function would have been y=f(3x)

me and my friend were saying this on the way home, could it actually be either?
I got stretch of 1/3 parallel to y axis because
y = 1/x
y/(1/3) = 1/x
y= (1/x) * (1/3) = 1/3x which I think is what we wanted?
y/c means stretch in y axis sf c

I imagine it'll be: 1 (or all) marks for right answer. Then 1 mark for correct Q and R, 1 mark for finding the correct lengths from your values and 1 mark for substituting in to 1/2bh.

-1/2 marks for getting the wrong answer?

How many marks would be dropped if you got -1/48 instead of 1/48? Would that be 2/4?
can someone confirm if this is x or y or both acceptable please



all x coordinates are 1/3 of f(x)
all y coordinates are 1/3 of f(x)

You mean a stretch of 3 in the x axis?

I don't think so because in one, the x values are not constant and in the other, they are?

that's the problem with core 1. It's so easy so the grade boundaries are high but everyone makes silly mistakes. Last year I got 62/72 but that was only a B. If I you resit I recommend you go through the paper twice and substitute your answers into the eequation to make sure you're definitely correct
