Oh well for your scenario I honestly just think he's just very very comfortable talking to you about those things. I don't think he means any harm to you by it or anything. If it's making you upset or uncomfortable then just tell him I don't think he'd mind not being so open about it if it troubles you because he seems to care, however he may be rather shocked that you don't like him being open with you like that. The way he sees it you two should be open with one another and it's totally obvious that he does it so it just isn't a big deal and is like saying "I bought some milk earlier since I noticed we had none in the fridge"...
