The markscheme for C1 was up by now..?

I heard that the person who usually puts up unofficial mark schemes on here said we are going to have to wait a day or two because he's struggling with the paper...:smile:

My answers (as far as I remember):
Q1) 1024 - 1280x + 720x^2
2.a) (x-2)^2 + (y+1)^2 = 20
b) x - 2y - 14 = 0
3.a) B-A = 48 (show that)
b) A = -96, B = -48
c) 3(2x+1)(x+4)(x-4)
4.a) Used cosine rule to show = 0.906
b) 40.9
c) 96.7
5.a) r = 8/9
b) a = 18
c) n = 28
6.a) 4x^5/2 - 10x^2 + C
b) 226
7.i) 0.264 (Vague memory of this)
ii) y = 3/2 and y = 1/3
8.i) pi/9, 4pi/9, 7pi/9
ii.a) k = 1+- sqrt (1+16k) / 8
ii.b) x = 0, 138.6, 221.4
9.a) Show that question (find h from value for V sub into formula for SA)
b) C = £483
c) d^2C/dr^2 = 12pi + 600/r^3 is greater than 0 as r = cube root 25 ---> Minimum

Unfortunately quite a few did 9b incorrect. It gave an answer greater than 483 but people rounded down, rather than up - not enough to pay for polishing or whatever the hell it was

Everyone being optimistic about the grade boundaries being low needs to get a reality check. Grade boundaries will 100 percent not be lower than 61 for an A. This exact thing happened last year, people signed petitions and ****. The papers for every subject are getting harder. Last year I flopped but since I've done c3 and c4 this was a walk in the park and many other A2 students would agree therefore boosting the grade boundaries.

This.

I'm self-teaching A-level maths on my gap year so I've learnt the A2 units too and ngl I think that's made C1 and C2 seem simpler. I thought this paper was average to sub-average in difficulty, but according to the poll on tsr it was a tricky paper.
What were the marks and qs for q8 and q2

Not really when you look at how many people sit the exam, also the type of students who use Studentroom as a revision tool tend to be smart, hard working students.
Hence why its sometimes not the best place to come for reassurance.

I have allowed for skew
I agree that the "moaners will vote first and they will be very loud.
But I am looking at the comments of established users rather than new users.
Any poll/survey also carries error.

I agree with all your answers, although I dropped 2 marks probably on the k question because I didn't read it and was looking at the next question aha

Did anyone get -48 and -96 for A and B?
Can't remember which one was which

Yes.
Original post by 14adeosuno
i saw the nearest pound part but even if you are round it, it was 483.48, which rounds to 483.5 which is 484 so im still baffed how almost everyone got 483

I put 484

last time a question like this came up they allowed either answer

Naa, the only paper I've seen thats been 58 for an A was Jan 2010, and this paper was a lot easier...

So I'm thinking 62 for an A

How is evryone saying this was an easy paper:frown: its harder than most of the past papers
Original post by NickLCFC
FFs lmao, I meant 5a

Nah that was fine
it was just look at formula booklet and simultaneous equations lol
Original post by harryheych
I put 484

If I didn't round and put the exact answer how many marks would I lose?

Why wld it be that if it said to round to the nearest pound, i got £483.45 something

Yes.

yhhhhh
unofficial mark scheme?
Anyone know the marks for each question?

Posted from TSR Mobile
So here is my answer
Q1: 1024-1280x+720x square
Q2: (x-2) square -(y+1) square= 20
Part b i got gradient =1/2, x-2y-14=0
Q3: A=-96,B=-48
Fractorise =3(x-4)(x+4)(2x+1)
Q4:40.9 perimeter and 96.7 area
Q5: r=8/9,a=18,n=28
Q6=32+194=226
Q7:y=1/3 or y=3/2
Q8i/9,4pi/9,7pi/9
Cosx=1+/- square root of (1+16k) devided by 8
X=0, x=136.8 or 138.6 something,x=221.4
Q9: 483

in my opinion, people who tend to use TSR are either those who find the papers difficult and want to express their anger :awesome: or those who find the papers easy and want to share their answers to the world :dance:. so basically it's a diverse group of people.
someone posted that :smile:
Is it fine if I didn't take out a factor of 3? I got (2x+1)(3x+12)(x-4)
