General formula for alcohol is CnH2n+1O

I think not

Lets try C(n)H(2n+1)OH

But for salters you have to write

C(n)H(2n+2)O

To get the mark

Yeah exactly so because they wanted you to work out the total volume of the gases which were all the products, 2 moles of peroxide made 3 moles of gas so the ratio was 1 : 1.5

You mean 1:1 1.5 aha, what did you get as your answer?

i thought it was CnH2n+1OH

Sometimes they won't allow OH at the end, they want the total of carbon atoms and then total of hydrogen atoms and then oxygen in that order

Yes

Does anyone know a teacher who is an OCR Salters examiner? If so, their input would be highly valued

It says state & it's only 1 mark so I doubt it. But incase I wrote that it speeds up the reaction

Every mark lost on a Salters paper is stupid. Never has there been anything that I didn't know, the same probably goes for you.

3 mark questions have 3 mark points so no room for maneuver. Same goes for 1,2,3,4,5.... markers
Every marking point has something underlined. You are wrong if you don't mention it
Every question is the same every year but if you put last year's answer you are wrong
If you put the right answer you are wrong.

So dw bout it
