I was actually quite happy with the paper in some ways as although it was harder than normal that is good for me as it reduces how hard I get punished for making stupid mistakes

Hard and weird aren't quite the same though, I appreciate the former especially for maths, but the unit 1 was rather the latter tbh

NatSci(Physical) at Gonville and Caius. Haha, tbh I wouldn't be bothered scrolling back lol.

Do you think you'll meet your offer:redface:? Also what were your UMS scores?
Well that was an awful Biology Unit 2 paper! It's no wonder that it was 64/85 for full UMS. Why do AQA do this? :colone:

What would you say are the least competitive colleges for cambridge economics? And what would you say are the most competitive?

Yeah my guess is that they're all equally competitive thanks to the pooling system. Different colleges do however have different entry requirements.

UMS scores on my profile. Yeah I think I will, I'm aiming for A*s across the board, at A2 getting UMS is much easier than at AS tbh.

I wouldn't really say there was anything that weird in it either. The potato thing may have seemed strange but it wouldn't have changed the question at all if it had just been a battery pack or a cell

Some offer holders, or so I have read, say that they find that meeting the offer is less stressful than Year 12 in the sense that while they are under pressure to achieve a certain number of A*s, they don't feel under as much pressure to achieve close to 100% in most modules. Any thoughts?

Potato is a big thing as a joke now rather than the main problem. I didn't find any question particularly weird but when I did the paper there was a grain of uncomfortableness and unfamiliarity if you know what I mean lol

That is a disgusting profile. You should be very proud.

What made you pick Caius? (If you don't mind me asking haha)

I kind of feel that way even though I'm in Year 12

I see it like, if I can get high UMS in AS, and then combined with an excellent application get an offer for Cambridge, getting A*s will be easier as I will be calmer and I will know what I'm working for.

With AS, it's like, I'm working hard for these high UMS grades when there's a high chance it'll amount to nothing in terms of Cambridge. That's just the way I see it

Oh yeah I agree entirely. Last year I worked myself to near death doing extra reading and trying to juggle exam technique. Revising for the Cambridge chem challenge as well. I actually fell ill from this just before my exams, so it definitely was a more stressful time for me. Which is why I empathise with everyone here, I've been through it and realise how much stress thinking about UMS scores invokes, which is why I try to calm everybody down; UMS isn't the be all and end all. Yes there is a threshold you may want to meet which is 93% for compulsory pooling, but don't get yourself ill from it like I did lmao. I tried very hard and still only got 93% (which for others may seem amazing, but I was aiming for 96%+). My exams last year were very easy papers and so my mistakes were penalised very harshly with the fact that 100%UMS on 7 of my papers that I sat were 100% raw marks.

I don't mind at all haha. I visited the college in the summer and loved the location of the main college; it's right in the middle of the Cambridge market. First year accommodation is extremely generous, you get guaranteed en-suite and all freshers are in one building on the other side of the river opposite Queens', the accommodation for first year is in a block called Harvey Court. Reputation of fellows and alumni, specifically those who are in fields that I wish to specialise in. Oh and they recently won University challenge this year which is a plus.

Hmm well if they do make an offer to a candidate then since the average offer holder goes on to achieve quite a few A*s there must be some kind of confidence factor which spurs them on to exceed there offer, although this is just me hypothesising I guess

Ah the good thing is that you've got the offer so obviously that's was worth it  And yeah I'm quite lax about it all, there's a reason for everything really and so long as I've revised enough throughout the year I feel that forcing things as this stage might be detrimental lol.

Yep and what a feeling of relief it was when I opened that letter, I'll never forget falling over on the floor in sheer happiness when I opened it . I tend to over revise near to exams, there is such thing as revising too much and I'm afraid I will do the same this year, that's just me. But good luck in your application, I'm hanging around this thread all throughout the application process, so please don't hesitate to PM or quote me for any questions.

I agree with this (although I do feel guilty that this year I don't work as hard as I did last year)

Are IB students worse off than A Level students when it comes to the application?

Nope

IB here!
Not at all, cambridge knows about the IB and my interviewers even told me to let them know if they were going too far off track from the IB syllabus (didn't need to though).
What subjects are you taking if you don't mind me asking?
