I know :/ I'm so worried! Which 3 topics are you doing?

Hi, I have a question. From doing past papers, if you were to create a list - which of the 4 questions in the exam would you say tend to be the easiest/most difficult to get full marks on? Usually they go like:

Q1. Calculus/Macalurin series/Polar co-ordinates
Q2. Complex numbers
Q3. Matricies
Q4. Hyperbolic functions.

Just wondering what the general consensus was.

3 matrices all the way!!

Really, why? I'm the opposite haha!

I've been using this for my revision:

Might be of help?

Vectors, Multivariable Calculus and Differential Geometry. I'm at the point where I just need to polish over mistakes and stuff:redface:

I've made a thread for FP3 here: --->

Thanks :smile:) I like it because there is so little that they can ask, its the almost the same questions every year with different numbers

Why don't you like it?
Thought I'd bump this thread.

I haven't done a paper in months; and I need 100UMS in this (or as close to as possible) to have any chance of getting into my first choice.

I'm gonna focus on G485 and Economics then I can cram this :smile:
Gonna need a complete refresher though.
See you guys on Friday:top:

Same!

What is your plan of attack in terms of revision aha?

My maths and further revision has solely consisted of pp's and it has fcked me over so much. There is definitely an optimal number of pp's you should otherwise you can overdo it imo.

I've been doing the same, but this has always been the toughest one for me :/ I'm just gonna do a few pps to see where I'm messing up, then watch some YouTube videos to help haha.

For maths, the only revision I ever do is past papers. I'm probably going to try and do every single one over the weekend!

Can anyone explain the transition from (tan^2y) to (x^2/a^2)??

What do you mean??
Could anyone explain how to justify the signs when showing this. The mark scheme is very vague. image.jpg

Sorry that wasn't very well explained! It is on question '1bi' on January 2009, and I have atttached a screenshot of some a worked solution of the question but I can't quite follow where 'tan^2y' changes....?

They say at the top let tany=xa\tan y = \frac{x}{a}

So:

tan2y=x2a2\tan ^2y = \frac{x^2}{a^2}

arcoshx>0arcoshx > 0 for all x by definition, hence we take the positive root.
