I thought it was quite tough... How did you all find it?

I thought it was quite easy, what were the two insoluble molecules that gave energy tho???

I put carbohydrates and protein, heard some people put starch, glycogen, etc. Don't know what is right.

Found it good overall, but a couple of things:

2 marks decomposition of wood what is the answer? I put decomposing bacteria break it down into smaller, less stable, unattractive pieces and sections of wood for furniture. Think that is wrong as I heard someone put releasing enzymes and stuff like that.

Let me know, hope everyone did ok 👍🏿
Also what is a good experiment to measure rate of sweating? 3 marks

I did that too,,, I reckon they would accept carbohydrates/starch and proteins
We need to set up an unofficial mark scheme. Can someone make the google doc like some people did in maths ?
Also, what did people put for the why do people sweat more when they do more exercise and the micro propagation question

I put something weird down like collecting the sweat in a measuring cylinder and measuring it in a set time. So like cm^3/minute or something

For the swearing I said to use cotton pads and measure the mass increase

yeah i said that but i said divide by a set time?!?
I thought that exam was quite hard because it didn't have many topics and the questions were less specific, and I forgot micropropagation and I also didn't say that transgenic was a different species I just said different organism :frown:

Micropropagation:

1. Tips of side shoots/stem removed from the plant (explants)
2. Sterilised to kill microorganisms
3. Grown in vitro (placed in Petri dish with nutrient medium) which provides growth hormones and
nutrients
4. Cells begin to divide into a small plant
5. To meet demand, more explants can be taken
6. Remove from dish, plant in soil, and place in glasshouse (with moist conditions)

you need to say it was put in another hormone which encouraged root growth

I think that is additional,,, the main jist was the process of micro propagation for plants

And what did you put for the sweating 4 marker (not the sweating experiment)

Yeah I said something slightly different but pretty much the same.
I said that explants were taken from the trees. They were placed in sterile agar jelly to prevent competition with other microbes. The agar has nutrients (glucose for respiration; nitrates for growth). The agar jelly has plant hormones to stimulate growth. The explant is taken out and put into another agar jelly with plant hormones to encourage root growth. Finally many explants can be taken from trees at any time of year. Do you think I'll hit most of the marks for that?

I dunno if I got it right but i said

1. weigh a tissue
2. place the tissue where there are many sweat glands such as the armpit
3. wait for a set time
4. remove the tissue and way the mass again
5. find the mass difference and divide by time taken
this will give you rate of sweat/minute

I put the same,,, but I meant the 4 marker at the top of the right page, why we sweat when exercising or something
I didn't say sterilised and I didn't say growth hormones or that the cells divide :'( and I knew it for paper 1 but I forgot
