0.56 because pp of n2o4 was 0.4x2 and pp of no2 was 0.6x2 and then Kp was 0.555555555

Same.

Advantages and disadvantages of the 2 processes:

Palm oil:
+: Green as carbon neutral
-: Oil obtained from food sources is unethical
Coffee:
+: ?
-: Used methanol which is obtained from unsustainable crude oil

Nope. Ffs. How many marks do you think I've lost?

It was a 5 mark question, wasn't it? Not many man, I reckon 2 maximum.

But don't you also have to react palm oil with methanol

How many marks do you think it takes for full UMS? Usually around 82, isn't it? But since this was more difficult...?

THIS QUESTION THO :frown:
Palm Oil adv: Can produce large scale bio oil, as opposed to the pathetic amounts from used coffee grounds
disadv: Lots of energy and water needed to run the plantation
Coffee grounds adv: not very wasteful, as they were just going to be thrown out anyway
Disadv: very hard to produce large amounts + wasted solvent and methanol
I concluded by saying the palm oil is better as a renewable source of energy.

Maybe I got them mixed up! I think I must have put 10-15% yield was low.

Yeah, I'm thinking lower too. God knows, maybe 80, 79?
How many marks for an A do you think for this paper? I've made so many stupid mistakes grr :frown:
Coffee
Pros: Coffee has already been used and so you are recycling
Cons: Methanol has to be used which is not renewable

Palm
Pros: Renewable because it's from trees.
Cons: Is only grown in tropical climates so there needs to be transportation which may not be green.
Someone pls pls pls pls do the unofficial mark scheme now

Do you think an advantage of the coffee one is that is used waste products and not new plants is ok? I think my disadvantage was that the % of oil obtained was low but yours seems more reasonable.
Grade boundary predictions:
A: 60
B:54
C:48

How much more unorthodox can a paper get?!?

Thank you Edexcel for recruiting Satan as the author for Unit 4.

One last thing: I made a silly mistake on calculating the order of the X question, but from then on, everything I did was correct. Do you happen to know if I would get full ecf marks from that?
What did people write for the pH of water one? Also how would adding acid change the taste of jelly?
What did people put for the anomoles question?
Methanol was used in both processes, the question asked about the method of obtaining the same oil. So i don't think mentioning methanol as a disadvantage would get a mark, correct me if I'm wrong.
worst paper of them all  whoever wrote that paper should be shot in the dick tbh
