Essay contests in Humanities and Social Sciences (Butler Prize, Robson History, etc)

Hi,
So I've just submitted my RA Butler Prize entry but have no hopes since I did little preparatory reading and rush through it. However, I'd like to take a shot at Robson History Prize. Have u entered any competition? Would you enter another one? It doesn't matter if it's a History or Philosophy or Politics or Linguistic or etc!! What would you like to study next year?

Hi! So I' ve done the first one. I really enjoyed it cuz it all comes down to political theory. A friend of mine who I met here on TSR did the one on wars. (he'll probably join us at some point) Which question did you pick?

Ah cool. I picked the one one wars, I won a debate on it a few months ago, so I already have a little background and its an idea that fascinates me.
I'm doing the war one. How many words did you all reach?

Around 2800. My exam haven't started yet so I had more time to focus on the essay. Dont expect much though. Gosh, why dont they send confirmation emails? Have any of you sent their essays?
Nope, still working on mine.

Just to notify you that I got a change of mind a couple of weeks ago and will probably apply for PPE rather than Politics and Sociology. It's mainly because of the opportunity to do Philosophy, but also due to my academic interest towards Economics.

Hi everyone I know that this discussion was going 1 year ago but I just read through about the essay competition in John Locke institute about Philosophy and Politics and also the Butler prize one and I'm very fascinating about them!! I have never written any essay longer than 2000 words before so I'd appreciate if you can give me a head start! Thank you so much!
