Na I mean grip rule.
The thumb is direction of normal vector. With direction vectors being the turn from a to b ie axb.

I am fairly certain you mean FLHR given your explaination .

This is the grip rule:

But the grip rule is to do with magnetic fields.

He means just another 'rule' that uses the right hand. Similar to that but the thumb shows the direction of the normal and the thumbs point from a to be in axb.

June 2014 question 6 is an absolute pain and involves virtually no FP3 stuff apart from the fact the context is an ellipse. What a disgusting question. Hope nothing like that comes up for us.

I agree; it's a horribly designed question. I just want it to be another simple "find the value of a" one rather than loci :colondollar:
Does anyone have general notes on hypothesis testing

Think you're meant to be in the S2 thread. :P

June 2012 was a crap paper. It's not hard, it's just genuinely bad. It's one where you're only 80% sure what you're doing most of the time.
Any tips or tricks on spotting the method to use for reduction formulae? I though I was getting somewhere and then tried June '14 R paper and got no where with it :frown:

Oh right I keep on switching between the two.

also questions 7a, how to you simplify 720^3/2 x2/9 ???? calc doesn't give exact ans???

and question8d, i don't understand why they have used 2i+j+3k as the point a i thought A in the vector equation of a line is a point on the line, but they have used the direction vector of it???

can someone please answer this?? this is really stressing me out ahah :P

generate co-ordinates for Q and then sub them in for x and y and show that the locus given is true

i don'tt understand where they got the sin^2(theta) in the first line of the markscheme?? split up cos^n(x) to cos(x)cos^n-1(x) and got v=sinx so where did they get sin^2(x) ???

(by x i mean theta, x is just faster to type)

sin^2(x) as differential of cos^(n-1)(x) is (n-1)cos^(n-2)(x)sin(x)

not sure about the others and I need to look at S2 aha

generate co-ordinates for Q and then sub them in for x and y and show that the locus given is true

and I have found out what x and y= and I subbed them in but I don't understand how to simplify it

I have 16cos^2t+64sin^2tcos^t all over (1+4sin^2t)^4

how do I simplify this further?

Did you mean June 2010 8b

Yes I meant that one

Is this wrong on the i part of the determinant?

oooh right, silly mistake, thanks  np
Is there a table of past boundaries anywhere?

Yes. b1 should be b2.
q7a june 14 replaced paper,

why have they used that formula, isnt that the one for arc length?
