Bachelor of Arts (even for sciences... that's Cambridge (and Oxford (and Trinity College Dublin)) for you...)

Not at Cambridge. Almost all degrees at Cambridge are BA including as far as I remember NatSci and of course Economics and then three years after you leave you get an MA. The masters courses such as MPhil are a further year for which you apply separately. You don't get "module marks" in Cambridge in the way that you do at most Russell group universities and most employers understand that you can give tripos grades but don't ask for more details.

If I remember rightly, he said when you finish your degree you don't get a certificate saying 'BA [subject] [class]', it just says 'BA [subject]' and you can just use an academic transcript from your college which shows your marks for each year when you apply for a job or something.

I'm pretty sure you'd also get a predicated grade from your DoS or something on the basis of how well you'd done in your exams which you'd use if you were applying for a job.

I don't think the certificate even states the subject, though my memory is a bit hazy on this.

Oh okay, I was under the impression that only my final mark would count as my degree classification for all intents and purposes because it's the only assessment based on solely what I would choose to specialised in.

What HeavisideDelts said is technically correct because Cambridge assess and grade each paper individually each year, but in reality a lot of people use the grade in the final year as their classification of the degree, and sometimes that's what count. I know a student who got firsts in the first and second year, got offer from Oxford for their masters course but rejected in the end because she only got 2.1 in the final year. Contrary to this, when my daughter got offer from a London uni's masters she'd only achieved high-2.1 so far in her first and second year, but because she managed to get a first in the final year, they gave her one of the quite exclusive scholarships.
Also, if you have a look at famous Oxbridge alumni's biographies, the degree class they present there are almost always that of their final year. So it's quite common to do that, though technically it may not so accurate/correct in describing your whole classification as Oxbridge graduate.
But as someone said before, it's your first year grade and/or second year grade that count when you apply for work placement or recruitment.

I think it varies quite a lot by college. I didn't find out until after results day (September time), but I wouldn't worry too much about it as you're essentially randomly allocated.

Generally speaking, BSc for sciences and BA for arts. Old universities like Cambridge are odd because everyone gets a BA. I'm told this is because they 'predate' science and thus the awarding of BSc's...
