Why would you want to become an investment banker?!?!?
They are vile, psychotic, psychopathic, drug addicts who only relish is misery of others for personal gain..

I prefer to be morally good and make my living.

lol, are you basing your decision off the wolf of wallstreet? Where does the misery of others for personal gain come into it? If done correctly, there is no role for misery. If there is corruption, then maybe, but that's a problem of corruption not the vocation. If there is corruption in airline flying for example, does that stop an ethical pilot from signing up?

How long is a semester? Sydney would be live.

There are 2 semesters in a year. So half the year.

i thought these would have been more than good enough to do it as many others usually get similar grades at gcse and a level as i have seen in other threads

You're predicted ABC/AAC at A-level, most target/semi target unis ask for straight A's at A-level so it'd be more difficult. Investment Banks have like 200/300 applicants per place. They're not short on talent to choose from.

2A*S 3As 3Bs 1C at gcse
Predicted ABC in maths economics physics A2 but think i can get AAC
B in further maths AS
am i good enough to go into proffesion and do economics at a russell group uni?

pretty poor academics, relative to the pool of competition tbh.

that being said, academics alone won't get you very far.

Yeh definitely! I'd say good enough for most things, apart from IB since that's one of the hardest sectors in the world to get into, and therefore you need pretty much the best.
Hi guys, quick question: If I applied for asset management at Rothschild, would I still be on the sell-side of the market? Because I was told asset management was buy-side, but investment banks were sell-side?

Banks can have buy side arms. Case in point JP Morgan Asset Management or Goldman Sachs Capital Partners.

Nothing is definite - although your grades are geared more towards that sort of industry.
Is it true that for IB it doesn't really matter which degree you do? I've heard things like music and English grads getting jobs,

If I were you, I'd take a gap year and resit and get to A*AA.

Don't most banks ask for grades in the first sitting unless there was extenuating circumstances?

Well, apparently it doesn't if you're at like Oxbridge or UCL. I plan to do Geography @ Cambridge or Geography & Economics at UCL/LSE.

If that's true, then I recommend the KPMG sponsored degree programme. They pay for all your fees and give you a 20k salary on top. You study accountancy & finance at Durham or Birmingham, your choice. It's an excellent programme.

I am aware of this but how easy would it b to move over to IBD after specialising in audit for 6 years?

Not that easy, but it is possible.

Ya That's what I thought lol. Wouldn't something like corporate finance be possible? I did a quick job search and a few of those jobs liked people who were ACA qualified or equivalent

good shout, this would look more favorable in the type of industries most aca qualified peeps move to after getting their qualification from the big 4, in terms of that youre on equal footing

still apply, but just don't put all your eggs into one basket.

my results aren't particularly amazing at GCSEs and i managed to land some stuff

again, academics isnt the deciding factor, given you generally meet min requirements
