"The British Empire will rise again"

This had been said to me and I have read this many times before, how do you feel about this statement? A sense of pride? perhaps you want to induce vomit...please share the way you feel when someone says this or you hear this, I'm curious. Thanks.

Our government can't even keep control of immigration into their own country
Half pride half apathy. Nice thing to have but not something I would lose sleep over. Certainly would solve all Middle Eastern and African problems anyway.

They are delusional, and they do it out of bitterness that Britain is not a great power anyone and is reduced to being America's obedient lapdog.

Britain is too small to be a great power again and the advantage of being the first industrialised country disappeared a long time ago. It's industrialisation and power was also fuelled by colonies which it no longer has and cannot ever get back.

These guys need to accept Britain will never be an independent great power ever again.

Why do you feel pride?
As a brown guy, not too overjoyed.

Well seeing as the empire used and stole wealth from others to become successful, and the fact Indians were treated like **** I wouldn't be too keen on seeing its return.

Because I'm patriotic. The stronger one's nation the better.
When the world wanted rights, who wrote Magna Carta?

When they wanted representation, who built the first Parliament?

When they looked for compassion, who led the abolition of slavery?

When they searched for equality, who gave women the vote?

When their freedom was in peril, who offered blood, toil, tears and sweat?

And today - whose music do they dance to?

Whose universities do they flock to?

Whose football league do they watch?

Whose example of tolerance of people living together from every nation, every religion, young and old, straight and gay?

Whose example do they aspire to?

yes, we will rise again

The British Army needed the Americans to refuel their planes when they bombed Libya, so the reconquest is not for today.
Sadly it won't happen unless we pump out another 400 million people and get them all employed.

I'd feel some pride though. In the great competition that is foreign affairs, we'd be winning.

Certain parts of the USA.
In my opinion, Britain is still a 'great power' in the world when we look at such factors like GDP, political influence, nuclear weapons etc. However I highly doubt that the Empire will 'rise again'.
I guess its not impossible.
