what is it with guys and the female body?

I find what I am about to talk about rather annoying.
okay - so, I don't really speak to very many guys due to the fact that every guy I have gotten close to or allowed to be as good as a best friend ends up making a comment about my body; to be more specific about my curves.

Things like this always weird me out and leads to me distancing myself from a person. Like why can't it be possible to actually be interested in ME rather than my body. It makes me feel like an object and leaves me actually feeling very uncomfortable with myself. Yeah for sure other women may find comments such as these to find it boosts their confidence, yet for me its the opposite.

That's probably the first thing they notice about you, I'm sure they are quite interested in you for other reasons than your body

I think some of the boys tend to the 'curves' others no they go further. And I think the last ones are difficult to find.

What sort of things are they saying? Why is it the opposite for you? - are the things they say insulting or do they make you uncomfortable (or both)?

lol betas would be all over her not rejecting her because she's overweight.

I thought they were trying to **** her
To me curves is overweight which is a polite way of saying fat.
Being fat is not only awful for your health long term but its also very unattractive. You can't have a go at people for finding you unattractive. One can't choose what they find attractive. I'd say as humans we recognise that fat people are unhealthy and when we look for a sexual mate to reproduce with we look for healthy mates. Because thats how we are gonna pass on our genes right? which is essentially our role in life as a living organism. Thats all programmed into us from millions of years of evolution.

Anyway, its fine if you don't mind about being fat. But you can't ask everyone else to be fine with it because we literally can't, as stated above. Either grow thicker skin and be less affacted by other peoples opinions or lose some weight and look more attractive.
Its not rocket science.

To me fat people have an easy ride. The fat acceptance movement is a joke - they downright deny being fat has a detrimental effect on health. Imagine if there was a campaign for smoking and people now said you have to accept people how they are, the smell of smoking is now nice and not to be frowned upon and that smoking doesn't have a detrimental effect on health.
People would be up in arms because that'd be ridiculous as clearly these statements are untrue.

Your body is part of "you". Different people like different parts of you: some like your smile, others your jokes, other might like the way you treat them, etc. Your body is just another aspect of you.

It just happens to be the case that the body is the main focus when it comes to human sexual behaviour.

no the opposite problem she wants to meet betas if she wants guys to 'like her for her'

You are an object, get over yourself
Not very clear, either you're overweight, ans they're probs insensitive for pointing it out, but yeah if you want more guys then lose weight. Or you actual curves and aren't using it as a metaphor, and just accept a compliment ffs.

You'd love it if you were interested in the men in question.

And maybe they're not just your emotional pillow cases either.

Because that's how human attraction works, thank around 200,000 years of evolution for that

Like Juichiro said, your body is part of you and I guess when you're close with someone then they will make comments about the little things that make you. Why do you feel uncomfortable when they talk about your curves? Would you still feel uncomfortable if you were a different size?

Wait a minute, are OPs curves a good thing and getting her guys, or are they just a metaphor for her being fat? :s-smilie:

Well..fat is a strong word right? I think it should be reserved for those who are overweight in an unhealthy way rather than those who just have a womanly frame..right?

i have been in the exact same situation. i don't understand why the responses on here are associating curves with fat. i have had guys tell me that i am slim and curvy

i have felt uncomfortable as well when my guy friends compliment me on my body cos not only is it weird but you wouldn't expect your guy friend who you are close to to see you in an attractive way. it has nothing to do with feeling insecure about my body but it feels weird to think that my guy friend sees me in a different way other than friendship

I agree. It is weird when a male friend comments on your body but I guess he's only doing what friends do. I mean girls make comments about the way their friends look all of the time and so it could be the same sort of thing.
