nervous as i dont drink and im commuting

I'm in the same boat mate, although not for religious purposes. I often get fed up with having to justify not drinking or people always pushing me, so I just say I'm religious and they leave it alone lol.

to be honest, if alcohol is prohibited in your religion then you shouldn't be a member of that religion. a religion shouldn't be threatening you to not drink.

If clubbing just really isn't your thing, don't worry! There are tons of societies for you to join to meet like-minded people and while they might have one night out a week, the main focus isn't on alcohol ^^

Think how I feel, I live ON campus and I doubt i'll be drinking or clubbing :< so you'll easily find people in the same boat as you no problem

Why is it that when I post that I don't drink because I just don't I get ribbed by people calling me a killjoy but when someone puts "religious reasons" suddenly everyone is all sombre and suggesting they forget religion and just drink is taboo? I'm not saying what that guy was right but the double standard is really annoying.

I was in the same situation last year. However, I chose not to drink as I drive to and from uni. Your best choice is to join societies. They're a fantastic way to meet people with similar interests, and as has previously been said, their main focus is not on drinking.
However, most society meets are in the evenings, so be prepared to make the university library your second home as you will spend long days in there doing work waiting for the time of your meet up to roll around..!

I would encourage you to form your own opinion on drinking rather than following a set religion rule. The fact that you don't drink because it is unhealthy/you don't like it is a much better thing than just not drinking because you are the obedient dog of some book written centuries ago.

the idea of you saying you should leave a religion because it doesn't allow you to drink is counted as being ignorant because it implies how you have a lack of knowledge on religion and this is the best advice you could give rather than giving some actual feedback
