Fungating carcinomas are rather awful; lung cancer is pretty bad and then some of the tropical diseases like ebola.
The Simian Flu is a pretty bad disease. In the future it wipes all mankind except those who are immune and apes. Scientests are not sure why some people and apes are immune from this disease.

Unfortunately this is certain to happen. The only thing we can do is ally with the apes ,who are somehow intelligent, or we fight back and rebuild society.
