Crown Place accommodation 2015

OMG this is literally my situation!! My first was crown place double then crown place single then vine court single and i'm now in a deluxe studio at crown place. I tried changing it but all they had was vine court catered for £189 p/w which is even worse than the £156.80 p/w that i will be paying or some next accommodation off campus for cheaper but i like the city centre living.

*sigh* Liverpool allocated rooms so badly. It's ridiculous, its £21 more expensive per week or £819 more for the 39 weeks i'll be staying there instead of a crown place 3/4 bedroom! i applied in February as well :/

But what can we do really? I guess its still a very modern room and on campus...

As a fresher, i would've wanted a shared apartment to make friends way easier, i guess us studio people have to stick together.

I applied for exactly the same as you and ended up with a studio! Im worried about the price but my friend stayed in a crown place studio last year and she really liked it! Hopefully we both will

Did she find it easy to make friends with the other people in the studios? My anxiety has just been sky high over the past few days thinking we'd all end up isolated 😂

Hey guys I have a studio too, just confirmed it today as I was on a waiting list super excited now, can't wait to find out which room/floor I've got so we can start socialising

Liverpool seems like a cool city, i went for an open day earlier in the year. Crown Place is literally so beautiful and modern, i only saw a single room but i was very ready to move in when i saw it, so i can imagine that the double and studios are even more nice.

It's on campus so that's great and theres a bus stop right outside crown place which takes you to the city centre (about 10min away) so its convenient but most importantly thats where Nando's is . If your a walker (i'm lazy af but the walk is pretty decent) you can walk it from Liverpool Lime Street to the uni (and therefore Crown Place). It stands out, i'm sure you'll love it!!

Aw thanks for the info dude! Yeah I'm pretty pleased with the bus stop being right outside, I checked on google maps and that was a relief because I'm doing a foundation year and so have to commute like 40 minutes outside of the city for first year so it should be really convenient for me. Haha Nando's - I've only had it once!

So are you from a nearby town/city or also from the south perhaps?

Haha Fair enough. Oh that's cool, how would you say Liverpool is different to birmingham? I know Bham's is pretty dense in terms of population and there's a lot less in terms of infrastructure as it's so much more inland but I've never been to Bham either

They aren't that dissimilar tbf. Birmingham is a lot bigger and so places are much more spread out like university's and city centres so you do need to know your way round a lot more. The transport links e.g. trams and buses are much more modern and bigger and it's way easier (and cheaper) to get to other cities via train. There's a lot more to see and places to go e.g. NIA and NEC arena and its the 2nd largest city in England so the commercial world is more accredited. Birmingham ofc can get boring but for the most part, it's really cool!

Nice, I'm such a plonker. I had no idea Birmginham's rail and road system is so extensive! I wrongly assumed since there's no airport it must be lacking but now you've just made me completely rethink Birmingham. Ahh Now the population size makes so much more sense! London clouds my judgement too much

You've definitely answered my question - Have you been to Manchester? In terms of cities I've only been to London mostly and then Manchester, the few other UK cities I've been to, were generally quite small, so picturing Liverpool for me is like trying to fuse manchester with a seafront city like Hull. Lol sorry I'm making this all sound like some kind of geography lesson or something

Whenever I'm in London, there's always things going on, whether it be academic lectures or, cultural events, festivals and things or just different types of markets - there's a lot of things to do. Do you think Liverpool's quite international and diverse in that respect? I'm not a drinker and a pretty explorative but independent type hence why I ask

Birmingham has a very popular modern airport, it's called Birmingham International Airport (BHI), it's the 7th busiest in the whole of UK after 4 London one's (obv), Manchester and Edinburgh Airports. So true, London clouds everyone's judgement.

I have been to Manchester, it was my first choice for uni but that road ended I loved it so much though, very much like Birmingham and Nottingham. & haha a bit of Geo doesn't hurt.

What will you be studying at Liverpool btw? & are you a fresher?

I'm not too sure, its too early to say cos I've only been there once but based on what my friends/family say and in general i'd say London comes first then Birmingham, Manchester, Sheffield, Leicester, then Liverpool somewhere quite far next (if we are talking about international/ interracial diversion).

Rofl How embarrassing. I was once told Birmingham didn't have a major airport and I've gone on thinking that. This must read like an ignorant southern town kid, thought can't say I'm far from it
Aw, I hope it's not as bad as it sounds. Coming from a small town, hopefully I'll be content.
