Britain left the splendid isolation because they realised they may need some allies just in case war broke out.

When they left the splendid isolation they signed a treaty with Japan in 1902 which was only to do with trade and the Entente Cordiale was signed with France in 1904.

The terms of the Entente Cordiale were that Britain take Egypt and France would not interfere and France would take Morroco and Britan would not interfere. Also, both of them would share trading around far east. It was not a defensive treaty.
