How have people found calling DWP? I absolutely hate making phone calls and this one is causing me a lot of stress and anxiety!

Thanks in advance

I need it to get the 16-19 bursary and my mum did all the phone calls. I am going to be honest and say it is a very gruelling process, in order to be able to be eligible for it you have to send in a medical certificate saying you're not fit to work! I'm sure it'll be okay for you  just make sure you have patience  if you need anything just message me okay?

I don't think you will, I wasn't told about it until GCSE results day and we told them where I was going last week (which was fine) it would help to have the address of the university on hand just in case they ask you where it is

You should be fine. That is, as long as you haven't started already and tell them tomorrow, for example.

I've called them just waiting for someone to call me back. I was just worried because i'm in the support group and was worried that they will say well if you can move to uni you can work. Not knowing that actually i'm not 100% sure how i will cope but unless they want me claiming for the rest of my life i need this!

I think the conditions for it are stupid. It's basically saying in a way you can't "work" so me and my family are worried I cant do my a levels. I'm sure you'll be fine though, keep fighting!

It really is stupid I mean I had my assessment with atos last year in October still heard nothing from them! Assuming they kept me in support group!

I hate it! Aren't they supposed to make things easier because we have difficulties?

Im interested to know how you get/got on. I have to do this and plan on sending a letter as I dont do phone calls.
Things i think theyd need to know is that your in recipt of dla/PIP, that medical conditions you have havent changed or have gotten worse or about any new ones, the amount of contact hours and any changes. Eg min atendence is 90% but reaaonable adjustment is 80% and being able record lectures, specialist mentors ect.

Yes I get high care low mob. After waiting 3 days for a phone call all they wanted was to me to go to the job centre and get them to fax over a copy of my student finance stuff. Quite why they couldn't have told me that in the first place I don't know.

Nope they just need the breakdown of what student loans I'll be getting. I can understand why people accidently commit benefit fraud it's quite difficult to do the right thing but alas I'll persevere and get it sorted.

I received my last ESA payment yesterday as in two weeks I will be officially a student. In called yesterday afternoon (I couldn't wait to not be on ESA anymore!!) but got a text just after the call saying I couldn't end my claim any more than 8 days before my course was due to start (uni starts 21st). I didn't want to do it any later So just told them I wasn't bothered about claiming for the extra 3 days or so. They were helpful on the phone and I think you pretty much have up until the day before your course starts to end your claim. Just a word of advice, call at around half 9 in the mornings you get straight through!! Well done for getting into uni with a disability 😊

Let me know how this goes. I am in the middle of writing a couple articles for a few magazines. I'd really like to know what the scum bags at the DWP do.

To be honest what the DWP should do is offer advice instead of asking for names and national insurance numbers. This way people would be more forward before committing to something.

OU Student out of everyone here I really do admire you. Your always in the disability section helping people out. I wish I could be more like you but I have a tendency for competition and drama hence the reason I'm always in Politics section arguing.
