Hello, I've got a trial shift at Costa Coffee tomorrow morning? What should I expect.

Thanks.

This forum isn't being really useful. &&
A typical day from a Barista Specialist:

You will put away milk delivery, serve customers, restock, waitress basically, clean toilets in the evening, hoover sweep and mop, and then clean the back room, there is a deep cleaning list that has to be done every week.

On a OJE you will be shown the floor where you will be shown how to do the dishes, clear tables, run food etc. Then you will be put on the coffee machine and be shown how to, then you will serve a few drinks, and then be placed on the til where you will be tested on your speed and ability, you may have to do cold drinks too.
How did your shift go? You must be in charge of all the coffee brewing by now

I had an OJE there the other day. I was put on the till for an hour and a half.
When I had my first shift I absolutely hated it and left. The staff were rude, it was minimum wage and there were a lot of pretentious customers. I personally couldn't deal with it.

Does anyone know if you can/can't wear earrings when working at Costa? I have an OJE on Saturday
I had an interview at Costa the other week, and I've been invited back for OJE on Saturday!

Interviewer told me that if I worked there though, I wouldn't be able to use coffee machine for health and safety reasons, as I'm only 16. Did any of you guys (if you're under 18) find that this was the case at Costa for you too?
I didn't get to use any of the machines because it was so busy at my OJE but my manager said he would teach me, I'm 16 as well and supposedly learning to use all of the machines on Saturday

Ah sounds good! Maybe he just meant I couldn't do it at my OJE then... I'd really like to learn how to use the machines though, as learning to make all the drinks is kinda what attracted me to the job in the first place...

Good luck on Saturday
I had an OJE in Starbucks so should be similar.

I walked in and told them that I had an interview and was offered a free drink, should always accept this as it is a coffee shop and you want them to know you at least like their product lol, and I was told to wait a few minutes. The manager came shook my hand and he left almost immediately and it was one of the shift managers who would be doing my OJE and interview.

So I was thrown straight on to the bar, this is where they make the drinks, it was a little confusing obviously but I got the hang of it and really enjoyed it. He asked me if I knew what the difference between a latte and a cappuccino was, I had no idea so I said hey mate I have no clue lol and he was understanding. So first I started heating milk for lattes, then for the cappuccinos which is only a little more trickier then I was starting to make full skinny lattes! Double shot of espresso then warming the milk and handing it over to the customer. Thats pretty much what my OJE consisted of no cleaning or till work but I think they just wanted to see if I could do bar. My interviewer was really informal so I took advantage of this I spoke to him not as someone who was my interviewer but someone that I could see my self being mates with and it work because after we sat down for the 1 to 1 for 20 minutes he said that he really likes me and that will put in a good word

This all happened on Monday btw and I was happy that he said that and when I got home I was afraid that maybe he was just sweet talking me to tell me what I want to hear. Then yesterday, Tuesday, at 10 am I got a phone call, picked up immediately lol and it was the main manager guy that I shook his hand from the other day and he told me how the guy that interviewed me spoke really highly of me and he thought I did really well (the little legend put in a good word for me after all!!!) and he offered me a job and I start next week :u:
