2.27*10^-4)*6=1.362*10^3
then would i times it by (CO =12+16)???

Yep.

Yep.

i get 0.038136? x 1000???
and would that be right?

You don't need to times it by 1000 as you already converted it earlier on.
So your final answer is 0.038136. You might want to round it.

Ohhh... Thats not a lot of Carbon Monoxide is it... Someone told me it was 740kg haha

Ohhhhh I know what you did. You did 227/1000000! It's meant to be the other way round lol

****.... this changes everything,
so then 4405.286344*6
and then times 28?
and then /1000
I'll post my answer, once you have arrived to it yourself.
(I was also waiting for someone else to say it too, to make sure i wasn't wrong. :biggrin: I did make some silly mistakes, but I'm now sure in my answer.)

Lol don't worry. You learn from making mistakes :smile:

Yep the method would be the same after that.

What do they want the final answer in, grams or kg?
If they want it in grams then you leave it as it is. If you want it in kg, then divide by 1000.

Just need to times the 4405.3 by 6.

Look at the answer afterwards, and see if it makes sense.

Edit#1: Actually, one moment.

Just realised you already multiplied that by 6, my bad.

Thanks!
How would i do it for
WHat mass of Carbon Monoxide is produced when 1000kg of TNT

2 C7 H5 (NO2)3 -> 12CO+5 H2+ 3 N2 + 2 C

By the way, say if anything doesn't make sense, because I nearly made a number of mistakes, having not done really any chemistry for a while. :tongue:

n = m/M because we have the mass of TNT, and can figure out the relative molecular mass.
n = 1000kg x 1000 (must make it into grams) / 7(12) + 5(1.01) + 3(14) + 6(16)
n = 4404.3

Ratio of 2 C7H5(NO2)3 to 12 CO
2:12
So 4404.3. is multiplied by 6 = 26425.9

m = nM (or n x M)
m = 26425.9 x (12 + 16)
m = 475666.2g/1000 (back into kilograms)
m = 475.7kg

@HAnwar Double check this for me please! It'd be awful to give a wrong answer. :tongue:
EDIT #1: By the way, if the answers are slightly different, that's because I've rounded it at parts.

Yeah I think you rounded or something because you got 4404.3, I got 4405.3.
That lead you to getting 26425.9 while I got 26431.7.

But you then did 26425.9 x (12+16), and that doesn't give you 475.7.

My answer if you convert back to kg is 740.

Yes, that's correct.

I actually got that one of the multiple times I calculated it, but then I thought I made a mistake, and redone it. :tongue:

On a side note, that's the beauty in showing all your workings, because in an exam you can realise far quicker where you have gone wrong.

I would rep again, if it wasn't for PRSOM.
