A = (a-5/3) + 5 +12
3a = a-5 +51
2a = 46

For five you substitute the values you know for water into the equation, so:

100 = 5/9(212 - x)
Then you can solve for X

For six you know
U: 14 T = 3.5 and V = 7 because the motorist reduces her speed by half. Now you know these values, you can rearrange the equation and substitute in your values.
