I have survived the week!

It turns out that the books I bought before the course were not needed; and the ones I really need I haven't got. There will always be someone who beats you to the last available copy in the library; and electronic resources (esp core reading) will inevitably crash on the night before M-level lecture. Hence Amazon is making a fortune from desperate trainee teachers like me.

You can always sell some of the ones you don't need if you don't like them. Amazon does a reasonable buy back for some textbooks.

Make the most of it.

You won't get very much time to reflect or link your practice to theory/the big picture or even think about what you're doing once you're actually teaching. It's vital that you reflect well, and it can be so incredibly helpful to be around others who are doing the same and discuss this with them.

That's crazy!! We had them all through the year. You need something to reflect on, and time to reflect continuously! That's a strange set up, I can see why you didn't enjoy it.

Are you at Roehampton by any chance?
If so PS does continue, just held in the Hub schools instead of at uni ... which hopefully is going to be better!

Enjoyed the fist two weeks on the whole, but just want to get into school now!
Yep.

Yes, on the academic timetable I see we are in our HUB school twice, till the end of this calendar year.

School will come, soon enough, don't worry.

Meantime, get as much reading done, as possible, because once we are in our placement school, full time, time will be few and far between.

Going to get on with my reading, now...................

Spent today in a primary school and it 100% confirmed to me I've made the right choice with secondary. There's only so much phonics I can take before I crack I think!

I have to do a week in KS3 in January and I'm sure I'll feel the same about secondary! I'm dreading it already- I definitely don't have the patience for dealing with teenagers.

Oh gosh, there's no way I could handle a week! I only have to do one day in KS3 in April and I'm dreading even that!

For my specialism I'm doing 4 weeks in a secondary school after Feb half-term! And we'll need to arrange that ourselves.

What does everyone wear on the uni days? Does every dress like they do at undergrad or is it more professional? Don't want to overdo it on my first uni day :hat:
