AS sociology AQA

So I know it's a little early, but better to be early than late 😜

I'll be taking - Family and households
& education with research methods

Anyone else taking this exam? Also, does anyone reckon the grade boundaries will be higher due to the exam reform. I mean, I'm guessing that schools and colleges will be teaching the new version, leaving previous students to be able to resit. (Thus higher grades as they're already familiar with the content)

Thanks!

Yes it's the same. I mean you are able to resit sociology AS AQA for the final time this year.

Hope this helps

why haven't they reformed it? or was it only minor tweaks? because for some subjects like History and English there've been vast changes, they've made the exams much harder...

They have reformed it. But previous students have the chance to resit their exams.

You can compare the differences between old spec and new spec (I am honestly not going to all of that effort as I'm not doing the new spec ) via the documents here:

OLD: http://filestore.aqa.org.uk/subjects/specifications/alevel/AQA-2190-W-SP-14.PDF
NEW: http://filestore.aqa.org.uk/resources/sociology/specifications/AQA-7191-7192-SP-2015-V1-0.PDF

From a quick look it seems to be largely the same content, but as there is even a new Sociology textbook out I'm guessing there are at least a few significant changes.

Page 8 AS Level - You have to do Education & Methods in context on one paper, then paper 2 is Research Methods + whichever one of these your college chose:

Culture and identity
Family and households
Health
Work, Poverty and Welfare

Page 9 - A Level (so if youre not doing the AS and just the a2.... idfk how the govt are doing this honestly this is such a mess) - Paper one is Education, Methods in Context, and Theory & Methods.

Paper two is one of the following options your college chose:
Culture and identityFamily and householdsHealthWork, Poverty and Welfare

Plus one of these your college also chooses:

Beliefs
Global Development
Media
Stratification and Differentiation

Paper three is Crime & Deviance, and Theory & Methods.

These reforms are so stupid I s2g
