Guessing you are applying for BSc Economics? If so this is the official statement from the LSE:

"Given the competition for places and the nature of assessment at LSE, we prefer students who have achieved high grades in their first attempt (and in one sitting) at relevant examinations. If extenuating circumstances have impacted your exam performance, you should include details of these in your application"

I took that quote from here: http://www.lse.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/howToApply/lseEntryRequirements.aspx

I retook C1, S1 and M1 from my A Level maths and they accepted me. I also retook an Accounting and a History A Level exam and they didn't mind. Basically, I retook loads and got accepted. Better to retake and get a better grade than to get rejected because your grade isn't as good overall, I guess? I didn't realise they were adverse to retakes when I applied, haha.
