I don't know about anyone else but I sent off my application three days ago and haven't received a confirmation mail!

I think you have to wait until the 4th November when all of the aptitude tests have been sat but I'm not sure :s-smilie:

Just sent off my UCAS for BA Oriental Studies. Do you get some sort of confirmation email from Oxford (St John's) and how do I send in my essays?

Also applying for Oriental Studies but at Wadham. I thought I'd have sent off my application by today but might have to wait til next weekend:frown:
I think you mail them, with the coversheet, but some colleges accept electronic submissions

Hey again doll! Asked this myself earlier! Most people seem to have got a standard application receipt around 9-10th October, then a week or so later a college-specific email asking for your written extra etc, then in November the interview offers go out

Cool, are you doing Arabic too, or something else?

No longer than 2000 words, but there doesn't appear to be a minimum length. However, the college taking your application will specify if they expect a minimum length

I thought you were applying to Harris Manchester! I'd say good luck, but I suppose we're competition now:tongue:
Does this age limit also apply to other courses?
I will be 17 when I start studying (I turn 18 in the following January so I thought it would not be such a big deal)
I am applying for PPE and I am also an international student.

I doubt it, I know a girl who applied for PPE a year early, but chose to defer her place, but presumably she could've not deferred

Hertford is my first choice, BUT because I'm over 21, I am likely to be given an interview at HM anyway if I am lucky enough to get an offer  I loved Hertford at the Open day though!

Ahh okay, I'm sure you'll get an interview, nearly all applicants for Chinese do!

Well.... ****... The essays I wanted to send are both 4500 words... Some cutting to do.:s-smilie:

Just curious - is there a particular reason you say that you are likely to be sent to Harris Manchester for interview? Cause I decided against applying there, but you make it sound a but like they try to direct all mature applicants back to HM, no matter where they applied.

Aww thank you, I hope so! Best of luck to us both  If we both get in I'll be looking for a study buddy :,)

Everyone gets a minimum of 2 interviews - one with college tutors and one with course tutors (I THINK that's correct, please correct me if that's not totally right!) but it's common for people to get extra interviews at other colleges if they feel you are Oxford material but would better suit a different college.
From what I heard on the Open Day, mostly everyone over 21 gets an interview at HM because they specialise in mature students and so have particular facilities specific and appropriate to their needs that the other colleges might not.

@BrasenoseAdm can probably correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm FAIRLY sure of this.

Hahaha, I know that feeling! Doing OU some of my essays have needed to be cut by hundreds of words :,) If we get in I'll buy you a drink and apologise for your literary loss!
