whats the average pass mark on tsa?
I've got 2 A*s at GCSE and the rest As at GCSE is there really much point to go through with the application for economics management, will they take into consideration that the average GCSE result at my school was a D and its 10 percent below the national average for gcse results at 5A*-C

Schools I'm applying to:
U.K.: Oxford, St. Andrews, Durham, Exeter, and Queen Mary's
Top U.S. Schools: Boston U, George Washington, Rhodes, Williams, and UT
What about you? Also, if you get shortlisted for Oxford, do you plan on flying there or doing a Skype interview?

US schools: Smith (Early Decision), Case Western, Lafayette, Bucknell, and Carnegie Mellon. Also a few in state safeties.
UK schools: Oxford, UCL, Kings, Warwick, and Imperial.
I'll fly over there for the interview if I already have an acceptance from a US school.

my personal statement is ready but I am still contemplating whether or not to apply cause of my GCSE's as I could put another uni down

You can find 'score conversions' on this site for each individual specimen paper, all you do it match up your raw score out of fifty with the 'adjusted' score:

Hi everyone, know this is a bit last minute, but would it be wise to apply to Oxford (Merton) for Medicine as a post A-Level applicant? I have A*AAA (with the * being in Chemistry), and although I know the entry grades are A*AA, I feel that this mightn't be competative enough, especially for someone who's already done his a levels. Any thoughts?

My GCSE grades are 10A* 1A, so I've 91% in Oxford's little conversion scale-thing :smile:

yolo ( + you have four other choices)

If you apply you also need to register for the tsa by Thursday.

If you score over a certain threshold at tsa you will get an interview. If you don't, they look at your details, make a judgement and may still invite you if you go to a poor school or have stunning gcse's, etc. The safest way is to get a good score at tsa.

If you get an interview you should definitely go to it. It's an experience even if you don't get in. So take it a step at a time. They offer places to people they think have the potential to succeed. So perhaps you should let them decide.

You're applying to UCL? I thought U.S. students could only apply if they've finished a year of undergrad in the U.S. Are you doing deferred entry?
I'm hopping into this thread bc I'm applying to New College. So I already received my final IB results (39/45) and I'm studying like crazy for the PAT.

Worth a shot I think. I know a current student who got 3A*'s and 7A's so it's still possible

Go for whichever you prefer! The teaching you recieve should be more or less equal as you'll be sent to other colleges to have tutes with tutors who specialise in their respective fields. In terms of location, Balliol is a bit more central and closer to the science area but not by much. Balliol has an intake of 4 whereas ChCh takes 6 - this won't effect your chances of getting offered a place (because of pooling) but you might prefer to have a larger number of people taking the same course as you in college (or vice versa). Generally, most people are happy with the college they end up in, even if they were reallocated.

I have a bias towards ChCh but that's just because I went there and didn't really know anyone from Balliol!

The deadline is tomorrow, so you're leaving it quite late! :headfire: Yes, for medicine you definitely need relevant work experience :yes:
