What grades would I need to maintain atleast a C?

I'm in Year 13 and I was wondering what grades I would need to maintain a C in Edexcel Maths.
My AS grade in maths was a C, C1: A, C2: A really high B, S1: E
What would I need in C3, c4, s2 to maintain a C?

Thanks

You should retake S1, there's no reason for the sudden drop. If you're averaging As/Bs in core - I see absolutely no reason why you can't end up with an A at A2, if you retake S1.

You should be able to work this out if you do Maths.

You need 360 ums out of a total 600 at A Level to get a C.

360 - current AS ums = how many ums you need in A2 without AS retakes.

No problem, in ums 60% is a C, 70% is a B and 80% is an A.

No your results sheet should say how many ums you got in each exam, as you said you got A B and an E they should be
C1: 80-100
C2: 70-79
S1: 40-49

Your results sheet will tell you the exact ums from each unit.

You need to resit S1 it would be horribly stupid not to. Don't be lazy (unless there is another reason you are not resitting it).

Look uop on your results sheet the actual UMS you got. If you've lost the sheet then ask at school.

If you post these we can calculate the actual UMS you'll need.

I checked a pic of my results sheet on my phone
The mark equivalent I got for AS maths overall is 207

Hope that works?

thanks for helping
Let me put this nicely: you should aim for far higher than a C. It's done on UMS, which I think other people have already told you.

I'm not sure how exactly the A* works if you are doing S2 as an A2 unit, as I'm doing AQA maths at the moment and only C3 and C4 count towards the A* as they are the only two A2 units (I'm also taking S2, but I'm taking this as a part of further maths), but you should be able to achieve an A* if you retake S1.

S2 should give you a bigger understanding of the topic of statistics as the whole, so if you are able to understand S2 you will likely do far better in S1 if you retake it. You seem to be able to understand C1 and C2, so you should do well in the other core modules, and C3 and C4 are not too much more difficult than the first two core modules.

OK 207 is nearly a B (210 would have been a grade B)

So to get a C overall you need 360 so 360 - 207 = 153 in A2

To get a grade B overall you need 420 ie another 213 which might be worth going for!

Which other applied module are you doing? Are you thinking or resitting S1 - it's my least favourite to teach as it is pretty tedious!

So for maths i'm just doing the cores and statistics modules. Also at AS I did Physics and Sociology which I got C's in also. I want to go into IT so I checked unis and they said they accept 2 alevels and btec. I felt so stupid for taking 3 alevels so I dropped Physics and i'm now taking Level 3 BTEC IT 6 units.

So I have 40 points already from the AS I got a C in that I dropped (Physics)

And I agree with you, I bloody hate statistics, you're probably thinking why didn't I do mechanics module in maths, it was because my teacher was a statistic specialist so i just went with it!

thanks for helping me out, what do you think of my course options this year?

S2 is more interesting than S1 - the last chapter is a bit tricky as there aren't enough examples in the book. D1 would be a better option for IT as it relies on algorithms just like computers do but maybe your teacher isn't a fan of that module!

Thanks for the advice
You wanna know what p*sses me off? The stuff we learn at A-Level doesn't really help us out in our job, well for me because i'm doing IT and they really need experience. It's crazy how much pressure we get! Anyways gonna have to boss this year out!!

If you were doing Computer Science, and wanted to go into gaming, quant finance, a top tech company (Google, FB etc) you would most certainly use the Maths you're learning now.

I was thinking more networking..
But still how would A-Level maths be useful for that stuff? like what maths topics would be useful
