Haven't cleaned my pc for the 3 years I've had it. Slown over time due to files and stuff being corrupted (or whatever), so had a system restore today.
Not sure if you still need this, but will post for future viewers just in case.

It's quite simple really, once your computer gets dusty, the dust can end up clogging different parts of the PC. Specifically, the fans. If the fans become so clogged with dust that they begin to slow down (or even stop altogether), the air can't circulate inside your case. This means that the computer won't be getting the proper cooling it needs and if you run the PC often enough or for a long enough period it will means that the components of your PC are going to last for a much shorter amount of time before they stop working.
