Hello, it's ADELE.

Why is this boy obsessed with stats.

They clearly are nobodies.

To you. To those of us who live and sleep EDM, they are our voices. And we're damn fine without ADELE and the likes. Beiber did enough damage with Jack U. You're so blind it's laughable.

Maybe because they reflect what's going on in the real world instead of your own little mind.

I know you can't cope with the impact of ADELE but still.

By your logic no-one is a nobody. Surely I'm a big name within my family. Massive star. Influential. Relevant. Their voice.

By my logic, I rate artists based on their instruments - in this case their voices not what album of theirs sold or whatever. I put them on equal footing. I have no idea what you meant in the bolded part of your message.

Weren't you saying they are big names within the EDM field?

And I'm saying anyone can be a big name if you narrow the community enough.

Considering the community's size, I doubt that lol I'd love to hear you say that in a couple years considering how fast it's growing. It's just as explosive as rap when it started out.

The irony ADELE was the one who killed off the pop-EDM domination started by Lady Gaga.

Let's look at the popularity of EDM.

Not by album sales - (US, 2014)
Christian: 17.36 million
Country: 30.46 million
Dance/EDM: 5.26 million
Latin: 6.26 million
R&B: 35.75 million
Rock: 85.25 million
Pop: 27.71 million
http://www.statista.com/statistics/188910/us-music-album-sales-by-genre-2010/

Not by single sales - (UK, 2014)
Pop: 35%
Rock: 24.3%
Dance: 16.2%

Not by radio. (Doesn't even register because dance/EDM radio stations are not tiny.)
http://www.musicgenreslist.com/country-music-gains-top-position-as-most-popular-music-genre/

Not by total consumption -
Rock - 29%
R&B/Hip-hop: 17.2%
Pop: 14.9%
Country: 11.2%
EDM: 3.4%

EDM barely edges out Christian music and only due to streaming.

I said it's growing and honestly someone who doesn't listen to it won't know. I've seen the increase myself. The number of artists, aspiring ones, releases. Many aren't on a big time label, many chose not to be. Monstercat is probably the largest EDM label and hell if you don't see how the communities grown from it's conception in 2011, Idk what else will prove how fast it has and is. There was an actual article, I just can't find it :colondollar: Compared it's growth to that of rap, which is closely behind rock in terms of growth. Only delusional one here is you. I'd love to read this in a few years. I don't want EDM to go mainstream because it'd get ruined - hinting at Big room house (club music), I want it to be recognised better and not just label everything as ****, plus the vocalists deserve hella lot more recognition, more so than Adele. I've never stumbled across her vocals and thought 'Goddamn' because they aren't. It isn't a matter of opinion so much here, anyone can tell the difference between a pot and a bell. Only delusional one I see here is you.

So it's delusional to look at facts and figures to come to conclusions now?

This thread took a strange turn.

In this case it's very much is. Popularity is a factor, sales/popularity would be a fair basis. Also age, EDM isn't old, or rather it's boom isn't that old, I think it boomed between '10-'12. I'll give you an example, just because statistic project A doesn't mean A happens or will happen. When you plan to go about something, those on the ground will give you truth. I know I'm very much not alone in this - thinking it's growing xD

I'm far much ready for that dictionary.
