Math Question (Algebraic Expression)

Hello,

Ive really struggled to figure this question out and cant find a way in my math book or online. it is as follows

Simplify
2cT(3-T)+5T(c-11T)

im getting thoroughly confused at 2cT x -T =

If you could show me how you get the correct answer and the process i would really appreciate it!

Thanks

-T is just (-1 x T) so think of it as : 2cT x -T = 2 x C x T x -1 x T= -2 x C x T2 = 2CT2

ok so

2cT x 3 = 6cT
2cT x -T = 2c-T ** I really really do not know what to make of that aha

5T x c = 5Tc
5T x -11T = -55T^2

simplified answer would be -55T^2 + 11Tc +2c -T

Ive only started studying again after 6 years and even then i wasnt very good!

ok so i think im on the verge of understanding this but 2 x c = 2c why doesnt 2 x T become 2T rather than T^2?

So the way you put 2c-T looks as though you are taking the T away.

When you multiply you did it right when working out 5T x -11T the only difference is that instead of -11 it's -1. So it would be:
2cT x -1T.

Because it's 2cT x -1 x T just like the the second one, there are two T's multiplying together.

If it were 2 x T it would become 2T
but it's 2 x -1 x T x T x C

so if i work out 2 x -1 x T x T x C
I get

-2
2T
2T
2C

so i can get most of it with the bottom three i get your answer of 2CT^2 but what do i do with the -2?

okay look:
2 x -1 x T x T x C:
Split it up so:
2 x -1 = -2
T x T = T2
C=C
So now put them together and you get -2T2C
