I've got eczema, radiography a bad choice?

Is it on your hands at all? otherwise i recon you d probably be fine

I don't think there'd be any problem, as you would be wearing specialist clothing - but ask a professional.

One of my colleagues has quite severe eczema and is fine to work a radiographer. If you haven't gotten over your fear of basic patient care though I'm surprised you're still looking at any healthcare profession.

Lol radiographers don't have to do basic care. If I find the work experience bad then I'm sticking with either dietetics and audiology. Anyways ganna ask professionals advice

Even tho u wear those things to monitor the X ray levels, how can u be certain it's accurate.

I feel sorry for that lady, tbh she shouldn't be doing that career cut trust me eczema can easily develop infections even by itching/touching a patient. The gloves can't be extremely effective. Plus washing ur hand often will dry her hands.

A PHD uni lecturer in Biology told me don't become a radiographer ,it's more harmful to ur skin than chemicals!

Because there are strict guidelines and policies that govern the practice of safe/reasonable levels of radiation exposure. These monitors are highly accurate and sensitive pieces of scientific equipment. Please take your (frankly harmful) conspiracy theories elsewhere.



She has eczema, she probably knows how easily infections can develop when proper infection control protocols aren't followed. I doubt she requires anyone's pity, since she probably knows more about what her job entails and how to adapt her practice to work effectively than you do. 'tbh' it's not really up to you to say whether or not she should or shouldn't be 'doing that career'.



I would suggest actually looking for peer reviewed medical journals about this so you are completely aware of the specific risks, instead of instantly accepting anecdotal evidence from one person. You'll learn that soon enough when it comes to evidence based practice assignments. Here's hoping you don't instantly advise your future patients based on what one person has said to you without providing solid evidence.

Do u think I should take out radiography? Cuz this lecturer said x rays are more harmful than chemicals for your skin. I've got skin problem. I don't want to risk harming my skin. .. help?advice. .

You’ll be fine, you will be expected to wash your hands regularly, use sanitiser or wear gloves and change between patients, but the nhs has made creams available to reduce eczema and dermatitis. I have eczema myself, as long as you moisturise and don’t scratch you’ll be fine!
