If I had a successful business idea, I certainly wouldn't be sharing it :teehee: Coming up with something is all a part of the process, do some market research, see what the market is missing. A good thing these days seems to be apps/ websites..

I own a business, tbh with you i never originally set out for one. It was more to do with necessity. My best advice is to start really small doing anything you can set up relatively cheaply then build slowly and learn.

That's the mindset you don't want, you learn about business by being in business..Even if you start something and it fails, you'll see other opportunities where you failed... You need to do your research, simple as that. Once you've done that, see which resources you'll need, how much you'll need, the costs...etc. It's all about actually starting, many people have ideas but very few actually do anything with them
scrap metal collection a couple of my uncles did it for a few years and made about a grand a week on average
Just start by thinking of something like... Ants. Are ants a potential customer base? No, because ants don't have any money. But could you give the ants money to spend somehow, like how goverment benefits put money in the pockets of the poor, which eventually gets spent in the high street? Probably not, because ants can't carry very much money. You might have to create extra-small money which they could carry on their backs, but even then... It wouldn't be worth it. But there is money to be made from ants. You just need knowledge of them. Perhaps instead of ants spending the money, we could sell the ants. But that would be tantamount to slavery. I'm not sure it's fair. What if you created a kind of... Ant Kaleidoscope? Find an anthill. The kaleidoscope comes ready-installed with a kind of tempting sticky ant jelly. You just need to add ants. Ants not included. So you take it to the ant hill and they crawl, naturally, to the pheromone substance. Then you look inside the Kaleidoscope and the ants tell your fortune. It's not practical, but it's a start.

How about, dungarees? They're out of fashion. I don't see anyone wearing dungarees these days, not even in the summer. But they're hot stuff. They're sexy, they look good, they've good a lot of culture behind them (the hillbillies). Why not start a dungaree store? A dungaree specialists? People underestimate dungarees. They're never going to go out of fashion just because they look so good. It's important to have a passion for whatever you're selling. I could talk about dungarees all day, but not everyone feels the same way. It's just a normal shop which sells dungarees. If you become a world leader in dungarees, you'll make your fortune that way. I suppose this is why it helps to have a family business. If my family owned a dungaree business down the generations, I'd have no problem feeling pride in my dungaree business. It's a family thing. It takes a lot of balls to make it all up yourself, from scratch, and take pride in what you're doing. But that's what business is about. Balls and creativity. Dungaree specialist

Here's a recent article about dungarees:

http://www.theguardian.com/fashion/2014/may/12/dungarees-buy-alexa-chung

There's an OPENING here. Nobody's giving dungarees the attention they deserve. Someone has to take them under their wing. It could be you.

I get that most of your posts are either untrue, completely incomprehensible or both (so nobody is likely to pay attention to them) but this is quite a well regulated industry now and you need a license to do it.
Will you hire me please?

I mean OK, but there are like a million ideas that make more sense and have less red tape, so I still don't know why you suggested scrap metal.
